As promised, for those interested, here's the sound difference from doing the centre resonator delete on my RS6. Dyno test next week, then onto the decat pipes after that!

There are 2 boxes to remove. Did you only remove one?

There's one centre resonator - this is what I removed.
There are another 2 small silencers as part of the downpipe sections. Not those.

Oh right. Mines a face lift and had the big box and some smaller ones too towards the back boxes

And the boxes I marked in blue you left original?

Yes Tadass, those are still in place, with the exhaust flaps/valves on the tailpipes. I wanted to keep the valves, so I had some level of control on the volume. Next step is decat, so I'll be interested to see if they can control the volume at all!

Vilo, I've the full milltek from downpipes back and still have the valve control on the rear boxes. Between comfort and dynamic you will still notice the difference.
Comfort for me is a little louder than stock but still comfortable on long drives were dynamic under load is ridiculous

I like ridiculous. Are your standard cats still in place? I'll have a mostly stock exhaust, but with decat downpipes.

Full Miltek it’s insane, at the moment I have stock Downpipes and none resonated Miltek exhaust and in dynamic it’s monster, so I can imagine if I would install catless Downpipes it would be impossible drive)

This is why I'm videoing the different combinations - most of my cars have been decat, so I'm used to the drone. I hope to find out just how wild the RS6 is with no cats in. Hopefully it's so loud that I have just a little bit of regret, but not enough to go back.

I wouldn't say the milltek non-res was insane. It certainly is a great sounding exhaust but not much louder than when I did a front and centre resonator delete (I removed the centre big box and the 2 smaller front ones that most people think are the cats).
A decat with standard cat back is also not insane but I think is one of the best exhaust combos on this car; it gives a good power increase and best sound and is not that expensive; downsides are obviously MOT and that you will most likely need a remap (less of an issue now that most of these cars are out of warranty).
Decat with front and centre res delete is starting to get very noisy, and the point at which I think you will reach your 'little bit of regret' point. Obviously everyone is different and some think the standard exhaust is noisy enough so this is just for viio and not a general recommendation.

The smaller boxes are towards the front, not rear, even on facelift.

Good recommendation for me Mike. My daily driver for years was a Subaru with straight pipes, no cats, resonators, or mufflers. I enjoyed it, but I do keep ear defenders in the car for long journeys. Fortunately I don't live in a place which will piss off the neighbours either, so I can be somewhat sensible.

Was your car equipped with the sports exhaust ? Or stock RS6 exhaust ?
