Help! Put SIM card into SD card hole

I stupidly accidentally put my SIM card into the SD card hole in the dashboard and I am having difficulty extracting the SIM card.
The SD card aperture has two small rubber ‘curtains’ that protect the aperture from dust etc. However these curtains also make it impossible to see the SIM card and insert any instruments, e.g., a thin long nosed plier to grab the SIM card.
I don’t use SD cards so the default option is to leave the SIM card in there and buy a new one.
Does anybody have a cheat or advice on how to extract the SIM card?
A like for like replacement SIM is £40, I figure getting someone to try with more specialist instruments or taking the dash apart is not economical?
In fact I think you’d have to not only extract the ‘head unit’ with the card slots but dismantle it as well?
Does anybody have any previous experience of extracting a SIM card from an SD card slot?
