LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
Evening all , I’ve searched and appreciate it’s been discussed before . Couple of slightly different Qs:
- would you buy a car RS6 with a stage 2 ?
- can the map be reversed ?
I don’t really desire any extra power over 597 .
Thanks in advance

Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
MY answer would be yes, provided you check the following:
Time of ownership, mapped new, second user etc. (a one owner car which was mapped properly and kept well shouldn't be a problem whereas multiple owners would possibly suggest "problems".
Check with Audi the warranty status and claim history. If there's a heap of cooling system related or drivetrain claims, run a mile.
Check state of brakes, the standard ones are crap at best and hauling the extra HP to a stop can warp, wear them out very quickly.
Look through reciepts for tyres, consumables and the obvious main dealer history. If it's been serviced on the nail and have in betweeners for oil and plugs, you should be OK.
Check for coolant level and enquire if it's been filled, mine did 500ml in 75,000 miles but under high temps the push fit seals can "weep" and consume / lose fluid a lot more frequently.
Try downchanging and lifting off, lurchiness often indicates high transmission wear and although they are mean to be "for life" on fluids, I'd certainly be prepared to get a specialist to take a look at the transmission once you've bought it and make sure it's clean.
Litchfield are very well respected in the GTR world and have produced a lot fo RS6's which are highly regarded. I haven't driven a Litchfield car myself but would expect them to back their tune with a warranty against major engine malfunction / total destruction, given the fact they charge for a service.
Hope the above helps, only my opinion and the things I'd be checking.
Of course the best possible option is to get a low mileage car which is unabused and do the mods yourself, then you 100% know what the history is. I found a nice footballer owned example with very low miles and now I'm going mental on the mods! :p

Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
and yes, the map can be reversed with a standard file, in boot mode to stop the flash counter going up. Might be worth a call to Audi to ask them if the car has the dreaded "TD1" marker. Of course this is only an issue if the car is in warranty.
Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
Sorry to divert but what’s the “TD1” marker?
Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
I beleive it stands for Tampering Detected and Audi apply this to the car's record if the number of Ecu Flashes doesn't equal that of the offocial service record. Either way they use it to walk away from any warranty on engine / drivetrain.
There are ways of flashing the ecu without this coming up, but I think Litchfield do theirs via the OBD diagnostics socket, which increases the flash count.

Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
Thanks all seems like too much risk for me. I’ll keep looking .
Sepang or Daytona 16/66 plate normal or PE- well if anyone is thinking

Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
You could always ring Audi service, ask them if they have any warranty work done, they will usually just spill the beans if there's a marker. Could say you're worried it may be mapped, see what they say. I've just picked up a bargain spare ECU for £250 so my problem is solved

Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
Spare ECU with a different serial number to the original build?! Come on, you can only do so much and frankly if you modify you have to take the pain. Trying to defraud the warranty is a poor show.

No it's not. Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
I had a litchfield stage 2
Utter <beep> in my opinion
Just me ten pence worth
Was on the car when I bought it
Felt no quicker than my later PE car....plus used to throw up EPC light and misfire on Cylinder 5...although this is a known issue
Used to hunt for revs on cold start too

Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
It seems to be absolutely fine after copying over the IMMO ID and reflashing with stage one from a KESS Virtual read. Logs are appearing OK and hitting target boost with no fuelling problems. Had to recode the TCU module to the car but can swap in the original ECU and run from it whenever I Please.Markp wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:06 pmNo it's not. I don't see what's wrong with wanting to retain warranty on other parts of the car than engine and drivetrain, which if I broke would take on the chin and upgrade with aftermarket parts. Not exactly a n00b at this, but please tell me what the link is between a faulty headlight controller and a remapped car - what gives Audi the right to completely wash their hands of any warranty due to a remapped car?
Re: LITCHFIELD STAGE 2
If you were going to claim for a faulty headlight why would you need a spare ECU?!
