My car is not far away from needing new disks all round, I'm not sure whether to go standard or something aftermarket (tarox, brembo etc)
Has anyone tried anything different?

Do you feel the standard setup isn’t doing what you want?

Not particularly, they're pretty effective. I did knackered a set on the ring but that's a once in a blue moon event and not a valid reason for going aftermarket.
I was more interested in if aftermarket are less prone to wear, have better stopping power, less prone to pad deposits or anything else I've not thought of.

VAGbremtechnic (same building as AwesomeGTI) are the only one's I've heard of. They have a long lead time however and I'm waiting for a call to say they've got a set ready. Coupled with Pagid pads these should improve things. It's either that or go the whole hog and 8 pot AP's...

My steels are absolute crap with my tools in the boot, couple of hard attempts and they're faded. Tried mintex, ferodo and paid pads but really must confess I just think it needs bigger discs and calipers.

Ceramics are great until you boil the fluid and they don't fade, just abruptly stop working

I bought a set of 410mm RB Racing front discs and matching rears (standard sized) but sold the car before they arrived so never fitted them. Toffebananas bought them from me so you can check with him for thoughts.

I’ve just had new brakes all around, went for the below:-

OEM Discs via site Sponsor Crewe Audi Parts

Ferodo DS2500 pads via WG Motorparts on eBay

Motul RBF 660 brake fluid via Opie Oils

IMO good combo.

The AP Discs are all good, 500 miles in and no judder. Pads are a bit messy but hoping that is just initial wear.

Still haven’t really used them in anger yet but will let you know when I have!

I found the standard brakes terrible. I kept the OEM discs and put EBC Yellowstuff pads on all round plus switched to racing brake fluid. Made a massive difference to the pedal feel and stopping power. 35k miles on and still have a good bit of depth on the pads - prob get another 10k out of them.

Morning,
I did similar, OEM Discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and Motul RBF 660.
Set up has been great so far but expect pads to wear more than OEM.

For the sake of closure I've gone for OEM discs and am giving Zimmerman 24455.170.2 pads a try.

I had a service a few months back on my November 2017 Rs6 PE - 11,000 miles and Audi told my front pads were 80% worn?

I don’t drive like an idiot and mainly motorway and A road driving. Is 80% worn even feasible at 11k miles?

That sounds feasible but a bit heavy.

Have you tried looking at them? New pads are usually about 11 mm thick.
