Camera Mounting

I'd like to mount a camera inside in the RS6 so that it films out of the windscreen. I don't want it on the dash, but rather set back where a front seat head would be. Suction to the sunroof is a non starter as the glass isn't smooth on the inside and in any event I'd have to mount the camera upside down and then rotate it afterwards. This problem is easily solved in many cars with detachable headrests simply by putting a mount across the headrest bars, but as we don't have detachable headrests, this is a non starter too. I'm considering using a tripod mounted in the back straddling the transmission tunnel, but it would need to be a stable mount and I'm not sure how to fix this, especially as I'm hoping to being doing well into three figure speeds and cornering hard etc.

I tried with a mate sitting strapped in the centre back seat on my old beast - it didn't work! He fell over!!

How about opening the sunroof and finding a clamp to hold on the edge of the back part of the glass. Alternatively a strong spring loaded pole between the front seats (suitably soft ends required to protect the leather) with the camera mounted on it. You could probably achieve this actually with a bit of 2x1 timber cut slightly over length, positioned with one seat back slightly forward, and then move them into line to fix it in place. You could then simply clamp or screw a mount directly on it.

Get yourself an original Go Pro sucker mount. Use a proper Go pro camera and it will auto orientate. These this stick on anything. I’ve used it on an outside door skin and all sorts of different interior glass. Never fallen off even at high speed on Trackdays.

I do have a go pro and didn't know it would auto orientate, so that problems solved and for some reason I'd convinced myself the sunroof had a sort of black gauze on the inside of it which it doesn't, so that must have been a previous car. I have a whole array of suction mounts, some that I'd trust at any speed on the outside of the car so it looks like I should be good to go. Thank you.

But they're only silly to anyone misguided enough to believe there is such a thing as a stealth car. LOL. sneaky sneaky, he'll never notice, just a bit more, a little more, he'll never notice me, BAM... ha ha. Imagining that their target and other road users are now well impressed when in fact, without exception they're all thinking what a complete T*sser. Nah, much better to advertise what you've got. Oh, and please remember to refer to it as a supercar

PS, Checked the camera this morning at is does indeed auto rotate. Silly me, but thanks for the advice.
