Car play
Hi, does anyone know if you can retro fit the apple CarPlay to a July 2016 face lifted car? I’ve been to two main dealers and asked but both said no, however I notice Huntingdon Audi are offering it so I wanted to check on here first.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Car play
There is a thread about this. I think there is an aftermarket solution you can fit. But without a touchscreen, it is of limited use.

Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Re: Car play
I’ve been speaking to HazyDayz about this. It depends on your software version of your MMI. Mine is April 2016 and just too old. They are still hoping to be able to get hold of the firmware update to be able to enable it but said it’s not something they can do yet.
3rd party solutions rely on the video input and in my opinion are far from ideal. I’d rather wait for the OEM version if it ever becomes possible.

No that's genuine Audi but only for 2017 cars and onwards that could have specced it from factory but didn't i.e just a software activation.zappy-chops wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 11:06 pmIs it this?

Ah, didn't read the 2017 onwards part. I'm going to ask my dealer about this. Bet they tell me they can't do it! Has anyone had this software update done successfully at a UK dealer?

Re: Car play
As Mike says, it’s not just software prior to 2017.

Re: Car play
I had a good dig into this, and gave up as feel currently the cost (anywhere from £500-£900) doesn't warrant the benefits
Sextons in Wandsworth will install for around £950.
Or order one online (one of the threads has a link to the chinese/HK company to order) and then install yourself or through a 3rd party
