Dealer over filled the oil!!!!

Had my car serviced on January 26th, other than drive home from dealer car has been sat in driveway for a week. We went to my nephew's 18th birthday this Saturday (2nd Feb) around 30min journey down the M40 and the car warning light comes up informing me too much oil! I couldn't stop as it was late had my 2 young lads in the car and the 'ball n chain'.

Called Audi assist to be told no Audi engineers work late evenings but could have someone round in the morning.... I mean wtf!! They then sent the AA instead. Have to confess the guy was very good and patient. Put the car half on half off kerb then jacked the side off the kerb to make the car level before starting to remove oil.

First he removed around a litre but no movement on the measurement thing on the mmi. Neither me or him could believe how black it was, it was supposedly only a week old.. It was still thin but obviously this dealer hadn't drained the original oil correctly, hence the colour i am guessing. The AA guy then removed another half a litre and only then did the oil measurement just move off full!

My question is, would it have caused any damage to the engine being over filled by 1.5ltr of oil? Where do i stand with the dealer, this is supposed to be what they call a 'master' something or another. Anyone had a similar experience? Am i allowed to name the dealer here?

I was so pi55ed off having spent my entire evening with AA and missed the party, bought a btl of malt on my way home and got merry😁

Isn’t there an issue with a sensor for overfilled oil on these?

Also something about bonnet too?

I'd get them to change the oil again. Sounds like you still have some of the old oil in there.

Go straight back to the dealer, their problem. Be cool and firm and take no sh1t.

M40 / Poor service work, this has Oxford Audi written all over it, please prove me wrong!

It sounds like the oil was evacuated out, rather than drained out. Some old oil would still be left in after the recommended amount of new oil was put back in; causing the overfill. Which is poor/lazy workmanship by the mechanic really, but to then let it go out overfilled is really bad. I was told by my dealership that all RS products should get road tested/quality controlled too, so the workshop supervisor also messed up.

Ha.... I have also had issues with them - recently did a load of work I specifically requested not to be carried out yet as not needed until 40k miles, a wash when not requested, and a few other minor annoyances

Likewise waiting to hear back from the business manager

Not surprised to hear it was Sytner Slough, never going back as far as 2003 have they been able to get anything right.

I had an oil service on my previous 6 back in 2016 and one week or so later I travelled 1500 miles to sweden and the 'Please reduce oil level' warning appeared on the dash 200 miles north of Stockholm... I called the dealer who carried out the service and was assured it was a faulty sensor and the car was ok to drive however still not nice to see when so far from home. Anyhow, upon returning home they replaced the sensor and it was ok. Will never actually know if they had overfilled it...

Black oil though... that's not right surely ??

Agree with everything you say, but the sensor appears to work correctly as when 2ltr was removed the indicator dropped on the mmi and as half litre went back in the indicator went up accordingly.
Black oil.....its pitch black, darker than coke. Funnily enough it's stored in a coke btl, will send it for independent analysis if Audi try and deny anything!
