Audi specialist in South London

Post by fozi.g » Wed Dec 05, 2018 5:30 pm

Hello gents.

Does anyone know of a competent Audi specialist in South London that would be able to fault find? I have a rattling noise coming from what seems like the suspension. The cars not within warranty so getting it sorted by Audi might work out a tad expensive.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

If you have a C7 and it has DRC, I'd be tempted to stick to Audi, at least then you have some chance of goodwill if the DRC is the fault

I’ve used these before for our A1 and A2 (but not on my C7 yet as only had it 3 months). This was set up by ex audi and Vw master techs. They are based in Sutton Surrey.

Even if they offer some kind of goodwill which I've been told would be a maximum of 30% if they offer it at all. l would still have to fork out a minimum of 2k+ for replacement shocks. Reading threads on here with members that have had them replaced this hasn't eleviated the issue with rattling coming back as soon as a month later. If it is indeed the shocks that need replacing I'd rather go full coilovers instead.

Volksautos are OK as long as Dave (the boss) works on the car.

I’d recommend a trip down to Camspec (near Gatwick) though as they can recharge DRC. Tell them Faisal sent you

Isn't Jack Barclay in South West London?
No matter where you go, there you are.

I had similar problems with my 6 but it was more of a knocking than a rattle. In the end Audi replaced all four shocks/dampers. At first it seemed to have sorted the problem but not that long after I’m sure the knocking was back.
Many on here said you need to change the control valves as they could have been damaged as well I’ll never know as I sold the car just over a month ago but the knocking I’m sure was back.
The initial fix by Audi was to re gas mine but I’m sure they over did it to hide the problem and the car felt like it was always in dynamic even though it was comfort.
I hope you get it sorted 👍

You sure there is nothing loose in the boot under the tray under the floor?
Coilovers will leave you with a permanent faulty suspension warning on the dash.

Step 1. Check pressure in system (needs special equipment)
Step 2. Check accumulator / control valves
Step 3. Check dampers (they may be mk 1 version that was prone to knocking and upgraded in 2016).
My bet would be on 1 and 2 to locate the problem.
Don't ask me how I know (suffice to say I had same issue. 4 revised new dampers didn't fix it on my 2015 RS6, accumulator was the issue all along and finally fixed. And, now, guess what my new RS$ is waiting for a new accumulator). Grrr!

Thanks for the input 👍🏼. I'm going to take it to volksautos next week. They can recharge on site too if it needs it. And there not far from me which helps. I'll get them to check the control valves and accumulator aswell. Im hoping I don't have to change the shocks and I can get away with just a recharge but we'll see.
