Anyone on here have one - if so, how hard wearing are they? - am debating trimming the steering wheel to alcantara as I think it will complement the rest of the alcantara interior.
If it gets shiny in 2000 miles, then I won't bother
Cheers

I was looking at exactly the same thing yesterday. I looked at RS3 wheels but most of the ones I found had red stitching. As I want blue stitching to match the rest of my interior it looks like it will need to be a Royal Steering Wheels job.
There was a spare steering wheel on here doing the rounds so you can send yours off for retrim. Not sure who has it now.

Had one in my GT3. Depends how clean your hands are but they do get a bit shiny eventually, however they respond brilliantly to cleaning (I used a suede brush) unlike real suede and look like new again. Just don't get a white one

In short they don't wear that well, look fantastic for a period of time. How long is dependent on all sorts of factors though.

My wife's RS3 wheel has alcantara at the top and bottom but the bits you normally hold are leather. I was thinking the same; half perforated leather and half alcantara.

Had cream makes them look toss. I had to change ours as the wife kept putting bloody hand cream on before going in the car. They do clean up really well, but it's a pain in the arse doing it every week!

I've used Jack at Royal Steering Wheels, great workmanship.
Re-profiles & trims in any material you want for a real OE look & feel!

My track car steering wheel. If I have grubby hands then I will use a cover over it.

Don't you wear gloves when racing Ed?

I picked up my RS3 yesterday with the half Alcantara steering wheel and the Alcantara is totally smooth. Might look at getting it re trimmed by the same people who did my RS6 seats

I had a silver Alcantara wheel in my B5, it was still like new after 117,000. The shiny worn look is simply grease and dirt. It will clean off, i used a microfibre and AS Brisk

Give the steering wheel a clean. I used a toothbrush and some alcantara cleaner, you'll be amazed how well they come up.
You can also do the same to the seats but I used an old towel and cleaner in those.

I had Alcantara in my M6 was great had the dash trims in it as well looked great. Little digital screen to, I found it looked really well even after 15k of usage, wife's driving & make up all over it could be an issue I'd think! I do like not thinking about keeping it tidy all the time.
