Considering a new exhaust system for RS6 2017 C7 and I have a few questions:
1) I've heard on the grapevine that an Akrapovic system will not void an Audi warranty as it was developed in partnership with Audi, is this true?
2) If it is true, does Audi have to fit the system?
3) I have had one quote so far of £7400 for supplying and fitment. This is for the Evolution Line Titanium Cat Back. Is this a good price? Anyone had cheaper?
4) would a Milltek system void a warranty?
Thanks in advance.

Audi UK don't offer the Akra as an option so as far as I can see there is no reason why they would honour the warranty any more for this exhaust than any other cat back exhaust.
Having said that, some dealers will tell you that a cat back exhaust won't affect an engine / drivetrain claim but there are others that will say it will invalidate it.
So if you are worried about losing the warranty then speak to your normal dealer and see what they think.
That sounds like there is no discount. I'd be surprised if site Sponsor Revolution couldn't do it for less especially if you mention this forum. Alternatively, Prestige Wheel Centre sell them too as do Plush Automotive. See who can do the best deal. Pretty sure there were a couple of second hand ones knocking about recently.
Personally I'd pick the Milltek over the Akra as I prefer the sound and cost but many like the Akra sound. But I'd go for a resonator delete over both systems for a couple of hundred pounds.

Good advice

Worth a watch and perhaps talking with West London Audi who fitted the system to this particular car.

I've seen that video and the Audi showroom looks pretty special. I think the guy in the video referred to it as "Area 51 from Independence Day". That said, I'm about 300 miles away from that Audi garage. The cost of fuel in getting there in the C7 could possible buy a full Milltek kit

There's a second hand Milltek for £1000 in the parts section if you are interested. In Yorkshire if that's anywhere near you.

I didn't realise you have to remove the valves from the original exhaust and transfer them to the Akra.
Made me laugh when he was comparing the weight of a short Akra pipe with the longer Audi one with a resonator. I've held the resonators and they weigh a lot just by themselves so an exhaust without them will no doubt be lighter. Not doubting the Akra is actually lighter, just his test made me laugh.

The only thing I would say about the Akra is that videos on YouTube don't do it justice. It certainly has it's own character and is certainly a lot louder than the sports exhaust. Mr JWW's video at least does a comparison of before and after to give you an idea of the difference. However, listening to the Milltek exhausts on YouTube just sound brutal! However, I have yet to hear one in the flesh or do a comparison with the Akra...

Ah the old exhaust question. I’ve tried most options mainly based around cost as the Akra is ridiculous when the only bits you can actually see are the tips. I started with Mikes resonators removed for £300 too loud for me. Then Milltek non res, again a bit too boomy. Then resonated too quiet and now Milltek road plus which I find just about right for all occasions.
If it were possible I would go for the Milltek road plus with carbon Akra tips

In that video the akra tips looked like it was a bit of metal with carbon effect paint. Is that right?

No, they are carbon with titanium exhaust tips. They look and feel a lot better than the OEM sport exhaust surrounds and obviously won't suffer from corrosion like the OEM ones.

My problem with them is they don't look quite right against the OEM carbon diffuser. Not sure if it is because one is gloss and the other is satin or is the weave different?

I'm sure you can spec gloss carbon when ordering, my RS4 Akra tips are gloss carbon. The carbon aspect can also be detached from the titanium tips/metalwork, so lacquering them afterwards should someone have a second hand system is also possible.
The Akrapovic systems have a very different, smooth tone compared to other aftermarket options, with only a small volume increase over the OEM sports exhaust. If you're just after a loud raspy noise, then Miltek is a cheaper and more suitable off the shelf product.

I just had the Akrapovic fitted on Tuesday. Very pleased with the way the car sounds. In non dynamic made sounds perfect without drone on motorway journey. When you want to have fun, dynamic is awesome, couldn't be happier.
