Good evening gents ,

Greetings from me it's been a while since I was in a RS product and I've now returned after coming from my 911 needing valuable boot space these days for the joys of parenting ! RS6 C7 2017 car sports exsaust all the toys.

This post is not to open up cans and have worms spill, I have read though the threads so I'm moderately concerned at this point, the aim of my post is to gather the respected opinion of the forum on the matter of mapping, firstly please assume all maps will be done be only the the best mappers out there with a respected reputation within the automotive mapping scenes namely DMS on this particular occasion whom I have had good experiences with thoughout ownership of my cars being done with them.

As I'm already pretty up to speed with the risks of ECU & Gear box maps on the C7 we will skip the fear factor of loosing warranties and head straight to the risk vs reward, I'm just going to get the ball rolling after reading the forum and feel free to add basd on genuine experience only ;

The risk & negatives
Catastrophic engine failure leading to 40k worth of invoice (n03 making this a big issue)
Coil packs, sparks change outs could be more common
The invalidation of our Audi warranty on a premium car

The Reward & positive
Appox 700bhp standard stage 1 map only - 640 Torque figure
Increase in throttle response
Greater Feed in power to user
Overall increase in vehicle fun factor (user dependant)
Keep ahead of model tweaks made by Audi such as power increases perfomance editions etc
(I hear the 2019 6 will be standard 650bhp)

Speed restrictions lifted (question,will Audi do this under request legitimately if a car didn't have the dyno pack ?)

Audi will lift it to 175. You need 3rd party to completely lift it.

I've never found the car wanting for more power, as it can get a bit scrabbly(word?) even on Michelin 4s. Also don't want to run a 40k slush fund just in case.

Never found mine lacking either. To be honest I hardly ever used full throttle in 35000 miles. All risk for me so wouldn’t bother.

Thanks again I'm marking 2 down for the none vote. Total understand the plenty of power to justifiy a ECU tweak on a RS6 especially in the UK So risk / reward is off balance ..

All anecdote, but everyone I've seen map theirs has put it back to stock upon sale. If it's so desirable and safe, why would anyone do that (resale value and popular perception?).

Everyone I know that's sold theirs have sold with the map still on it.

I've not mapped mine yet. I've considered it but the warranty is more appealing than another 100ps or so. If it was lacking in power I'd take the risk but I think it is still quick as standard. I might still get it mapped though once the warranty expires. 0 to 60 in about 2.5 seconds in a 2 tonne car for the small outlay is still very tempting.
The other thing to note is that if you did map it and it went bang then it would not cost you 40k to put back on the road. You can pick up a 2nd hand engine for about 6k plus a couple of grand to fit it. If you went to audi and asked them to fit. Anew engine then yes you might be looking at a 40k bill but I certainly would be looking at second hand engines and someone like MRC to fit it.

Audi will lift to 189

How much do they charge for the speed restriction uplift?

If I understand correctly Audi will lift to 175 with the dynamic pack and 189 with the Dynamic Pack Plus. I've not heard of them just lifting it without the appropriate equipment/features.

Hello Mike , agreed on the warranty argument. The car is very quick, I know the remap makes the numbers look great but I'm yet to make the pluge due to the warrenty it's nice knowing there's a safety net!

Good point on the second hand engine also, personally, my opinion is remapps (correct quality remaps) don't blow engines its a factor of many and or just plain unlucky in the engine a flawed rod possibly among many , maintence ...

Either way I'm certainly not needed 100hp, someone must be Along shortly to sing the 700+ bhp praises !?

I'll look in to this restriction lifting issue must just be a file amendment for them Im sure I've got the dynamic pack but not tested the top speed anywhere near the restriction at 155 even .

Yes if you have dynamic pack it should be restricted to 174. I wasn't aware of audi offering to uplift this other than on factory orders with the dynamic or dynamic plus packages hence why I asked how much.

I would say stay stock, 560 Hp more than enough, no headache nothing

Think this is majority Tad .

It's a lot of power just .. I find myself wondering it's a big jump on the map to 700+ even more so in the 562hp !

When i eventually get my 6. I did concider tuning it as i have done with all my cars. But after reading a lot of peoples commentw on here it seems the 560 or 597 seems to be more than enough. To be honest i want to get a 6 over my S3 for the special feeling factor
