Be careful out there....

So, dog wakes us with lots of barking at 01.25am 10 days ago - I get up, check around upstairs look outside and see my RS6 has gone.....dash downstairs to find keys gone and lounge window jemmied open.
Police on site in 12 minutes, notifying neighbouring forces - car spotted about 15 minutes later by a local farmer in a field with another vehicle dumping things. Car then spotted again 35 minutes later by a different Police force who then saw the 5 masked men stop and run for it, abandoning the car.
I am told this is a common theft round the South East Midlands area at present - high performance cars all targeted for use as the getaway for ram raids on ATM's.
Police tell me car externally has no damage but interior has been screwed with as the thieves were looking to rip the tracker out. They do believe they know who are doing the thefts...
Car now with Police for forensics and I am not sure I want it back at all........
Wonder has anyone else experience of this kind of theft and the consequences ?

Sorry to hear that... at least they only took the car. Hope it all gets sorted but I agree... not sure I'd want it back - in fact I know I wouldn't.

Wonder if it's the same gang that were storing the vehicles in Coventry? (pretty sure it was Cov)

I had a very similar experience with my C5 beast almost exactly five years ago. The story is all on here somewhere....

Car was at a mate's place on Saturday night for him to do service on Sunday (he is an Audi Mastertech)....
Thieves broke into his place, probably to steal his big truck to order, and as luck would have it finding mine (and my keys) at the same time. His big dog didn't even bark!
I was lucky, probably because the car wasn't on their shopping list, and because it had virtually no fuel in it. They did a short joy ride, and then parked up in a lockup. I had a tracker, and they didn't look for it.
Friends brother in law worked for TVP on car theft and recovery - more luck, and they immediately set the national ANPR system to signal all red RS6's and of course my number. They went out in the area a couple of days later, in uniform, checking local lock ups, making sure they were very visible. Sure enough, at 5.30 next morning, the thieves must have taken mine out of the lock up, probably to get the truck out too, and parked mine at the side of the road. Immediate signal from Tracker and the police were there in less than 30 mins to do immediate recovery.
I asked later why they didn't stake out the vehicle to see who came to get it - their response amused me: "No way we wanted to get into a chase with that!" they said, "It can outrun even our helicopter!"
Damage was one set of knackered discs, and new locks all round - mostly covered by insurance.
I was lucky - well, at least till I was scammed last weekend when selling the car!

That gang was caught but maybe they got away with it or maybe it's some of the gang that were not caught?

I think from the information i'm getting from the Police they are a bit further down the M5 - although they also seem to be active in Leicestershire too. Scumbags just scumbags.
I get to see the car tomorrow afternoon all being well, so i'll find out the extent of the visible damage and get a feel for whether I do want it back or not. On one hand its a great spec and ive not seem much around that i'd want more - but if the insurers sort me as they seem to suggest they may, I could step into a brand new one....albeit not the same spec I had....

This is sh1t. Arseholes.
Think carefully over replacement. And don’t forget you can’t factory order.

Just discovered this - and the specs of whats out there isnt great. The whole thing has left a very nasty feeling to be honest. Saw the car today and its a mess inside. Outside its fine, although the wheels may have suffered....Insurance co will collect it tomorrow and we will see..

I had my house broken into for the rs6 keys earlier this year. Luckily, both the wife and I were out so no car keys were left in the house.

So, car has gone - Insurance company have settled as a 'total loss' and i'm now in a different make and model. Just could not face having another RS on the drive for the next while and I did not 100% want this one back. Time will tell if I go back to them - awesome car, best car I have had, but having had this occur, its not something I want a repeat of. Still waking up at the slightest noise and if the dog barks in the night well thats a nightmare.....
The CCTV, Security lights and alarm will help, all things I never thought we would need, but such are the times we seem to live in.

I feel for you mate. You work hard for something and scum take it. Unfortunately there is no deterrent. If caught they’ll probably get a slap on the wrist and told not to do naughty things again.
I won’t write what I think should happen to these scum.
