Post by nshort10 » Thu Oct 12, 2017 9:06 pm

Hi everyone,

Picking up my new rs6 tomorrow and i have some questions if you can help.

Went for rs6 (non performance) and i have heard different stories about bedding car in do you have to wait certain points before your right foot gets bit heavy?

Also gap insurance been quoted £699 fro dealership.

Any advise would be a bonus

Congratulations...

The dealer gave me no confidence... when I asked them they actually had no idea and mumbled between them that there was no need to do anything, except just drive it.

I took it upon myself to take is easy for the first 500 miles, forgot a few times and hit the pedal, then did 500 more easy miles in one weekend and decided enough was enough. Think there was a rouge guide in the handbook - may be worth a look there.

I think I paid half that for gap insurance. Most insurance policies will replace for new any car up to a year old so gap for the 1st year is pretty pointless. The company I used allowed me to delay the start of their policy until the end of the 1st year so my 4 years of covers takes me up till the car is 5 years old. I can't remember the name of the company but I'll see if it can Google it to jog my memory.

Congratulations in advance.
For gap get a quote on the ALA website or just do a search for gap insurance and they will all be there. Should be less than that!

The company was called shortfall. Takes less than a minute to get a quote and you don't need to put your name or email in so no harm in getting a quote.

I think the manual says take it easy for first 600 then slowly increase revs and load up to 900 miles.

Whilst I think I also paid around £300 for GAP insurance through the dealer, my NFU car insurance policy includes free GAP Insurance for two years... worth a look maybe.
