New RS6 Owner - Online Services

Just purchased a 14/64 RS6 .. love it !
The Audi connect system is not enabled and I assume that it needs a subscription with Audi ? Can you just buy a SIM and stick it in (to get google earth etc) or do you need to pay a subscription . is it worth it ? Are there any online services worth having ? My 2016 C63 Cab Merc (traded for the Audi) had the MercedesMe app which was useful at times .. is the Audi functionality similar?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Do you have a SIM card socket, where the SD cards are located?

I have an EE subscription sim linked to my phone account but previously had a pay as you go sim. In fairness i rarely use any of the services but the kids make good use of the wifi... when they are allowed in it

Similarly, I have an EE Data Only SIM. It has its uses for local information and nearest petrol stations, with prices etc.

You can get away with a PAYG sim, my MMI is on google maps constantly and the data usage is something like 300mb per month. Your car will only have a 3G wifi assuming it is pre FL.
You do need a connect subscription but you may have a little left, connect cars came with 3 years of subscription.

I find the ability to send destinations from Google maps staright to the car's online destinations registry well worth it. Online Google search of destinations from satnav can be useful too.

Apologies for jumping in on this thread.
I have a data sim and Audi connect works fine however I can’t see a WiFi connection when trying to get the kids tablets connected, my car is a 15 reg RS6. Any advice?

How long did you wait for Audi to activate your online traffic license ?
i've been told it could take up to 14 days ( but i'm still waiting ) !
