Scored discs

My car just went in for its service. It needed new discs and pads up front. It's on 19.5k now so no major surprise. However the discs were heavily scored and pad wear very uneven. Audi say pad wear was within limits but on one side the pad wear sensor hadn't activated, on the other it was described in Audi cam as almost metal on metal.
That say this is normal, I'm not so sure. I got 19k Miles out of the OE tyres so I'm no test pilot but I do have a mad moment now and again like all of us. I see a lot of comments on scored discs.
Does this sound right, should the discs be so badly scored?

I got 20k out of my OE tyres, and was told the same thing at 22kmiles - scored discs - they have screeched since they were changed when you brake gently from 5mph every since, annoying, but I'm used to it now.

Mine has just had its 2nd set of front pads but only its first set of new front disks after 64K miles. Audi always tell you to replace both, but unless you are very heavy on the brakes (track days etc) or haul heavy loads, my personal view/experience is that they should last way more miles. My first set of pads change was at about 32K miles. By the time the wear indicator came on for the 2nd time, there was no noticeable increase in fade and no judder and the wear on both sides was even. Maybe I'm just lucky and a light braker

I know several people with high performance cars from mclarens to porsches. This scored disc issue seems to be an Audi thing. Whatever they tell us, it's not right and shouldn't be happening on a 100k car under any circumstances.
I'm trying to guage how many of us owners have this as an issue.
Effectively, with 18.6mpg long term and nearly 20k out of my tires im not a hard driver. I'm looking at a set of discs and pads every service. I know these are expensive cars but that's a little silly.

I've had 28k out of my front discs and pads and still there is 75% remaining but the discs are showing signs of scoring but pad wear is supposedly even according to audi.

Over the last 1500 miles I've achieved 20.4 and that's driving in london. I think it's always been around that figure I used to do a lot of motorway journeys but now primarily it's inner city.

A 2 metric tonne performance car/estate is always going to eat up pads and discs as its not a 1500Kg Porsche or 1400Kg McLaren.

Has anyone got any longevity figures for CC discs and pads, with ave. mpg figures, for comparison, that they are happy to share, I wonder?

Agreed, it's not so much the life of the discs and pads, it's A the uneven wear of the pads and B the scoring of discs. This obviously shortens the life of the discs and is something that just shouldn't happen in a car of the calibre. These are all cars with OE pads and discs which means.... yup, manufacturing fault. I run transit vans, transit mini buses, a small car, land rovers and I have never seen such badly scored discs or uneven pad wear. Hell, it's so off on the pad wear it has beaten the pad wear indication system Audi use on the car. To be told the pad wear is even and within acceptable limits when one side is on virtually on metal and the other side hadn't tripped the pad wear indicator is ridiculous.

SimonR - I would do a bit more digging on forum for previous posts as some members I believe have had these issues and they either got audi to replace or good will I agree with u it shouldn't be happening - I've had the dreaded squealing noise but it now just comes and goes before was constant

It's just reaching those who have had issues. This post is great as long as members read it. If there are a significant percentage of owners who have had this, it's not acceptable. It's not acceptable on any car, let alone a 100k Rs6.
If it's not debris, which it wasn't, it's poor set up or faulty pads/discs.

I seem to recall a few people saying that they had more wear on the inner pad and but it didn't trigger the wear waring and then damaged the disc. End result is that they needed new discs prematurely and warned other drivers to check theirs rather than wait for waring to come on.

Just changed mine at 25k miles - disc's were scored but just did the pads this time.The brake sensor seemed to have a mind of it's own but the wire was not broken when changed.Suprised to see the sensor only on the n/s/l.
OEM pads have a nice audi Sticker but the pads are made by Pagid - Euro car parts are almost half the price of TPS./ audi ...... brake pads are not covered by any warranty ....

No surprise there. It's just a case of keeping a perfect fdsh which I guess increases resale ( but probably spend more ensuring the fdsh)
I think I'm just a little annoyed that a car like this is scoring discs. It shouldn't be and many appear to be. This prematurely wears them and then we, the owners are expected to pay out for new ones.

The lifetime mpg of mine is 24mpg after 64K miles. I also live in London but most miles outside of that are motorway. I am getting 30K out of a set of tires as well as 30K on pads and 64K on the front disks. Am I driving miss Daisy?
