RS6 Upgrade
I have a 2014 RS6 that I'm considering a remap. I'm looking at various companies that seem to deliver a similar performance, + 120 bhp & +150ftlbs torque, as a stage 1 remap. Companies include Ecotune in Glasgow and Unit 20 south of Liverpool, both of these are a complete remap. Also there is an add on unit from Nolan Speed that delivers the same sort of power but at half the price. Has anyone any experience or advise?

C7 doesn't appear to be hewn from the same stone as C6.
Anything that's a cheap unit will be a cheap unit for a reason. You cannot take a punt with some piggy back nonsense on a car like this.

Cheers. The add on did have me a bit concerned. Ecotune is expensive but it comes with 3 hrs set up on a 4 wheel rolling road and a 4 stage change using the 'set' button on the cruise control.

Never heard of Ecotune.
MRC are award winners and Audi specialists. First port of call for most.

Ecotune is the name of a garage in Glasgow who are an authorised APR dealer (Bit like Awesome GTI in Manchester)
The owner of Ecotune has an RS6 himself and the car performs very well from what I've seen of it. APR are probably one of the biggest VAG tuners around the world, huge in America. Ecotune is not just a backstreet garage, they are VAG specialists too and routinely take on big turbo and engine builds etc.
APR charge around £2k for their software though but I do believe they have a 20% off at the minute.
I choose MRC as I have a good relationship with them but wouldn't hesitate about the APR offering (Either at Awesome or Ecotune) either as my 2nd choice.

APR is well known globally for tuning the C7 RS platform, MRC more UK based. thing with APR is they have a large UK franchise network so if anything needs doing they are local, MRC not so unless you live near Banbury.
Piggy tunes are proven if going for a known company
plus some offer engine warranties. Piggy's won't offer same gains but are easily removable, far more reasonable (Racechip is £500).

Only not cheap piggyback like race chip or maybe not even Abt or mtm, (maybe only if car is new and still warranty exists, if warranty is over I think piggyback is useless) I think that proper ecu remap always performs better than a piggyback which goes as default to all cars. For example Abt piggyback gives 666 hp and 840 nm, with custom remap stage one you get 680 hp -700 hp and 900 nm

Like said people can take their choice I wouldn't say one is better or worse than the other like you are insinuating. And in a 2 tonne car 600+bhp car are you suggesting you're going to feel the difference between 14-34 bhp and 60 NM?
At a quarter of the cost or remapping, no permanent program change and an engine warranty on some applications for 10-20% less performance over a remap, a piggy tune for those who still have warranty who want to maintain it, is a viable choice. Not saying it's what I would do, just saying they exist and sell for a reason.
Each serve a different target market, remapping if not done properly can be as risky if not more so than a piggy tune.

How does piggy back retain warranty?!! That's a wild punt. As discussed elsewhere try and fool Audi on this at your peril, they are looking very closely now.

As above. All piggyback tunes i'm aware of or have encountered are totally identifiable. The only advantage is you can 'remove' the tune & the device before visiting a dealer, but a simple check of the ECU will show parameter changes & flag that the car has been fettled, regardless of the fact the device & map has been removed.
You could be lucky but in an equal measure you may not, so in reality a piggyback device carries the exact same levels of risk as a custom tune (remap).

Glad you get some information, I think that there is no such thing that audi can't see that something has bred done to ecu, either with ecu remap or piggyback they can see everything.
If you want to be safe don't do ecu remap and stay stock, I think 560 hp is more than enough, by the way pe version was just dynoed and got 650 hp, Audi claim 605, so here you go, maybe exhaust you can change so audi won't say anything

I think I mentioned this somewhere else but an dealer I have had contact with had some warranty work refused on an RS6 when the car had a Milltek fitted.I *think* the work was later done under warranty after he got the exhaust removed but I haven't seen him since. Audi germany provide the option of having an Akrapovic exhaust on a new car so I would assume you would get away with having one on in the UK. I was told by an Audi service manager that if your car has a TD1 code it can be removed if the "issue" which caused the code is later rectified. There is a great deal of information out there in every direction about mapping/modding cars. I was told by an Audi salesman that I *should* put a tune on my Audi (a few years ago).
