Sports/standard exhaust

Post by skirs6 » Tue Feb 14, 2017 9:12 pm

Side by side what is the visual difference between the two. Anyone have any pics ?? Or is it what's inside the boxes?

Chrome ovals in bumper usually means sorts exhaust wasn't fitted.

Sports exhaust had black ovals in bumper also.

Yes, only visual difference between the standard and sports exhaust is the oval bumper tips.
Standard = Chrome
Sports = Black

The main difference is the exhaust internals and the sound!!

Ovals in black can be ordered as extra accessories, when buying car important to check if car is fitted with 0P6 (Audi sport exhaust as optional) but in my opinion Audi sport exhaust is weak, best to buy car with standard exhaust and then look for aftermarket

If you put them side by side there appears to be no visual difference. You need to check the individual part numbers to determine the sports one

Looking at the part numbers it looks like it splits the exhuast up into sepearate parts (I thought you could only buy the cat back part as a single item).
Interestingly, it only lists one part number for each of the rear boxes but 2 prt numbers for the centre silencer which implies the rear boxes are the same for Sport and non sport versions and only the centre silencer differs. The 2 different centre silencers are only differentiated buy the last digit; R & S (regular and sport perhaps?).

The other bit of exhaust which has the front silencer in has just one part number per bank so looks like it's the same for sport and non sport too.

Cheers Mike I have to say removing centre box and front baffles just brings the car to life. It's crazy in sport

For me it makes the car sound like it should have when it left the factory. So much more enjoyable to drive now.
