About to pull the trigger on this: V12S Vantage manual. It is a tad expensive but being a manual should be ok medium term value wise. Anyone out there own both?

Views?

A nice choice and i'm sure it will hold it's money well given it is manual and the last proper Aston V12.

Never driven one. Had one of the first V8s when they first came out and it was a bit slow (coming from an E46 M3) and the gearbox was terrible. Heard great thinks about the V12 though!

Colour is dark red but can look purple or brown. Not certain on it.

Prefer one a little more mental in grey with yellow but this one is in the showroom new so can get it a little cheaper.

Wasn't this the exact issue that Clarkson had on The Grand Tour? He was driving a brown Aston but claimed it was "Sunburst Orange" or something similar.

Seems that Aston like a lot of earthy shades in their paint range.

Sorry, RSQ, it looks brown from here. And a manual box and "last of the real Astons" badge won't stop it appearing to be brown. Apart from that, it looks lovely.

(Though in my book, the last of the real Astons was the Vanquish, made in Newport Pagnell)

Had the predecessor to this - the V12 Vantage.

Awesome car, real presence and the noise from the engine was awesome - good old school displacement.

Had some quality issues with it though and ended up getting shot after two years as I couldn't bear dealing with the dealer & warranty claims any more. Don't expect Audi levels of service - each claim seemed to take an age as the factory reviewed photo's / details. If you have the patience and a good dealer then won't be a problem.

Hope you got a good discount, the pricing is difficult to get your head around - I got something like 30% off the list price when I bought mine for taking a stock car.

Has the sat-nav moved on from a Garmin glued to the dash? Was all very charming though.

Cheers,

Phil

Looking a bit closer at the photo, is this Works Service in Newport Pagnell? From the '90's Vantage in the background.

If so I've heard very good reports from customers and have been invited to a few events there which have been top notch.

Wish they had been open as a dealer when I bought mine as they are much closer to me, unfortunately they opened just after and I wasn't aware - probably would have had a different experience.

Cheers,

Phil

Nice

But I've never really got Aston Martins?....never been lucky enough to drive one....but aren't they a bit...middle age, midlife crisis, look at me I think I'm 007?....the novelty will wear off after two months and the drive isn't actually that dynamic?

All in my humble opinion of course....what do I know.

It would be a 911 Turbo for me.

I think the colour looks great would be even better with a lighter interior, wheels need to be silver or something though black just looks gangsta to me.

they have real presence on the road and sound epic.

nice dilemma to wake up to every morning on what to drive!

I have bought two astons from works in the past. Service is perfect and even though they are 2 hours from me I wouldn't buy anywhere else. But the colour is an issue, my wife hates it so may be a killer.

Not sure about the colour. Given the massive discounts Aston routinely offer I would want a really special deal to take that over one in my preferred spec.

I have had both; 2 v12 astons and also a 911 GTS.

911 faster and more reliable but I never loved it. Astons I did love. Both had handling / steering miles ahead of Audi, Jaguar or Mercedes.

Of all the cars I have owned the only one I ever pine after is my DB9 Volante.
