Exclusive Paint = Delivery delay

Hey guys
Wondering if any of you can shed some light on whether or not I can expect a significant delay on the delivery of my car if I choose an exclusive colour. My Sepang RS6 order went in 3 weeks ago and I am being told it is likely to be delivered mid July, which with a fair wind could be mid June. However it's still spec changeable and I really like one of Porsche's colours, but my dealer is saying it could add up to a 6 month delay due a recent surge in demand. This has gone up since last week when it was estimated it could be another 6 weeks more, so feeling a bit in the dark! I don't want to wait another day, let alone 6 more months, so has anyone else heard this or had similar experiences?
Thanks
B

Exclusive paint is a lotto. Six months may be at the extreme end, but it's entirely possible.

Yes it is hard for the dealer to give an exact idea of how long it will add. There was talk of Audi bunching exclusive cars of the same colour together so if there are a lot of them then you may get an earlier slot.
But as an example, when I ordered mine in december it went into build in January (standard colour). At about the same time Boff ordered the same car but in an exclusive colour and his has just gone into build this week.

Sorry to make this easier to understand, look at my car - which is still not here yet.

Still I'd wait for the colour you want, I'm excited to have the noggy car coming!

So realistically Boff is still a month from delivery and I've had mine for over 2 months.

Exclusive paint now is very reasonably priced and worth the wait to get 'exactly' what you want IMO.

Audi City told me to add 6 months to a week 18 build for exclusive paint. So I stuck with Misano. These build dates and what causes them to change lack transparency in my experience. I made some tiny spec changes relating to wheels and external trim a week after placing the deposit and hey presto I am now apparently now stuck with a week 24 build. Terrified to change it again in case I end up with week 34 or worse!

audi City are low on the 'BS" situation, Martin and his colleagues are great, for a dealer opposite the Ritz surprisingly low arrogance, and a great car buying and collecting experience.
funny for sytner

Can't say that's my experience, nor others I've spoken to!
They must only look after the people who can afford to tick the £6k B&O option box...

This, 100%!
Exclusive colour cars are painted in batches (not just specific models either). They will only paint them when they have enough cars in that colour to make the paint process worthwhile. The batch number is a bit of an unknown quantity, I've heard varying figures. I've also heard that RS3's are currently given priority due to the large numbers of units they are shifting.

Isn't the RS3 built on the normal A3 production line as opposed to the RS6 which is built at quattro gmbh?

I was told that exclusive paint added to the wait but not sure how long. Ordered end of Jan for delivery mid July however last update was it had been brought forward 7 weeks. I was also told they paint several cars in one hit which makes me think if you use a Porsche colour it will be painted as a one off so I don't know why the wait is longer ? I have ordered an s8 plus by the way not an RS6
