Buying used.....

I am going to be in a position to move up to the C7 from my C6 in the next couple of months. Not interested in PCP, will be buying a used example direct from Audi for cash. So, a couple of questions;

Even though I have cash will I get a better deal taking HP and then paying it off within the 14 days?

How much discount can I realistically expect to get of the list price?

Should I be pushing for a second year of extended warranty and a couple of free services? Is this realistic?

All advice much appreciated as usual!

Also, what money should I expect to get for my C6;

08, 93k, monza with black leather, full Audi history, extended warranty to November, next service free, vgc

I guess the C6 is going to be mid 20s.

There's not as much room for haggling on used as new. Couple of grand absolute tops, depending how desperate the dealer is to shift it. Free servicing etc a better way for them to discount.

There's no deals on finance for used so it'll make no odds. Might as well pay cash up front.

Cash is king. If its 50k and you have no px. Offer 45 with a view to getting a grand or so off. You wont get much more

I think they will offer £18k for the C6, possibly less! Audi are usually £2k under book price.

I beg to differ, no Audi main dealer is going to get excited that there's cash ready to go vs funding on a used RS 6.

£22k-£23k gets you at 70-80k miles car. Guess you market yours at £21,500 and sell at £20,500?

Looking at auto trader I reckon 24-25k is fair. Especially given most of the examples on Autotrader will not have Audi warranty remaining.

You will get stuffed in the trade in and they don't get excited over cash as the incentive for their profits lies on the finance . I don't finance any of mine and they don't like to deal as their profit lies in the finance package and not do much in the motor . To maximise your cash sell it private as you will take a slap from most dealers

There is a Blue C6 RS6 Avant with 96k going through BCA Enfield auction on Thursday, maybe worth a phone call on the day to see if it received any bids and if so, what it made.

Always feel like a surprise when you are effectively told by a dealer that they would rather you finance the car. These days I always take out HP and pay it off, generally there is a big saving doing this. I think it was roughly £4k extra off on the last RS6 PE quote I had.

As far as selling is concerned. As has been said, selling privately will get you more but gets you more hassle too. I always look on webuyanycar to get a (worst case!) quick valuation too avoid the normal shock disappointment from a dealer offer. Also find it to be a useful tool for buying second hand too because it gives you an idea as to how much the dealer *might* have to play with on the car they are selling.
