New Registration or early delivery?

Post by anth8910 » Mon Jan 04, 2016 5:17 pm

The dealer has been on the phone asking if I'd like to take the car early when it lands at the end of the month for a little more discount. How much residual value do you think the car would loose roughly if it was registered as a 65 plate instead of a 16 plate?

I think I'd be taking it with or without the discount.

I'm in 2 minds whether to take mine mid / late feb or wait to 1st march!!

Are you keeping it beyond the terms of your PCP? If so, then the residual makes no difference other you either pay more over the term and have a lower balloon or pay less over the term and have a bigger balloon payment at the end.

I thought the balloons were all the same but based on how many miles you are going to do and length of term.
For an 11k balloon you must be doing 30k miles a year or something like that? or a 10 year deal?

Or are you not doing PCP? Which would then make sense!

Didn't need a balloon but would only allow a 50% deposit. Had to take the balloon deal to get the best contribution.

But then on March the 1st the car is technically 1 year old, so the question is waiting 4 more weeks going to save more than that over the term of the car (3 years approx).

the RV impact is debatable ... yes there is a fixed amount as per the 'book' but that all depends on when you come to sell it

If you are really not fussed about either £500 or taking it early ... take it on 1st of March

If £500 pays for a nice weekend in the Highlands enjoying your RS 6, then take that

Hmmmm, nice link. It's my birthday shortly after I pick mine up and the missus was asking if we should go away for a couple of days and stretch the legs of the 6. Looks like a nice road on their website as it loads, it's like they are telling me to go and spank my car there. Only problem is that it takes so long to get there, it'll almost be a case of get there and come back (which is fine with me but I'm sure she was hoping to spend more time in the hotel than in the car).
