Key Fob Boot Opener

Post by Zeebuilder » Thu Dec 10, 2015 5:41 pm

Right! A few threads past there was talk of some folks key fob working to open the boot but also to close the boot in close proximity.

No I have stood very close and pressed the button loads of times to no avail.

Please advise!! Lol

Mine opens it, but doesn't close AFAIK. Should read the manual one day I guess!

It was in my ordered car thread. You should be able to close it when really close by holding the key fob button down. I have also read about some A6 owners who had to activate it using VCDS I think. Or was that a dream…

You have to fit a module which you can purchase from kufatec uk, thus enabling the the button boot close

You need to be near to the boot - it doesn't work from the front of the car, for example.
You press and hold for at least two seconds before anything happens. Then the boot starts to close.
You have to keep holding until the boot is shut.
You need to own a facelift car (my dealer told me it was introduced on the facelift).

I used the feature just earlier today - it's standard fitment.

Why the fook would you use that?! Easier to reach forward, press the button once and walk away.

I think that you can switch off the press-to-hold-till-close in VCDS, but I can't be sure. I had it on my "Things to change in VCDS when I get the car" list that I drew up before I drew up the "life's too short" list that includes the entry "Dicking around with my car using VCDS".

FLs seem to come with this feature enabled (I think).

I had to enable the feature on my pre-FL ( :jump_clap: ) with VCDS. I set it so that it closes on a single press (tap) both from the keyfob and the switch in the drivers door. I left the beeps enabled, which are a little bit pony, but should reduce the likelihood of anyone getting struck by the tailgate. That said I always park as far away from everyone else as I can so that eventuality is never likely to occur!

The "module" from Kufatec is just a single use dongle that makes the same changes that would be done with VCDS.

For my wifes Q5, an additional module needs to be wired in to get the hatch to close with the keyfob, never got round to doing that though.

I think the closing feature is already there, all be it dormant ,on all of the C7s with electric tailgate.

This must be a UK thing. I had this on my C7 from 2012, but back then I lived in Sweden and I guess features such as these can differ between countries?

So many different views. Trust me my FL does not close with either the fob or door button. I press it and the solenoid seems to make a noise but no movement in latch.

Try standing closer. It won't work if more than 2 paces away. Also you must hold the button down.
