Current levels of discount?

£12-13k seems to be the current offer on the table via the brokers, which includes £4k from Audi.

However, when I bought my B8 at Xmas last year the broker deals were circa 10% (including £4k from Audi), but I managed 15.25% on a stock car (with the low rate 4.9% APR), so I was wondering what the current state of play was. Has anybody recently beaten the £12-13k?

15% is very achievable through brokers or carwow.

If taking the finance. % will vary though based on price of spec'd car as the discount will be % on list plus the contribution from AUK.

Not sure where you are getting your figures from but the current level of discount from Audi is £7k on the £79k list which means the car essentially comes in at £72k before negotiating further discount.

£7k/£79k = 9% (Discount or price correction, but essentially, it's 9% 'discount' for everyone before starting)

To get £13k off a £79k base car this would equate to an overall discount of 16.5% with the base car coming in at £66k. Not going to happen, I think the highest I've seen it on carwow is 14.7% but that dealer may be at the other end of the country. I would say anything above £10k off (so 12.5%+) is good going. (Sub £69k in real terms on a base car)

You will get £13k or more off on a £90k list car no probs tho, just can't see it on a base car. For example, 15% discount on a fully optioned up £142k car would give you a £21k discount

Just chucking some exploratory numbers around at the moment, Paul. It'll all depend on a number of things, including what spec amendable cars are knocking around at the time. If I do then I'll be walking into the dealer the week between Xmas and NY, like I did last year.

Suppose it all helps on the depreciation curve, the less you pay, the less you'll lose

At 3yrs old, 30k miles, Audi will guarantee the value at £37k. With a base price of £66.5k, that's a £29.5k loss over the 3yrs or roughly £10k a year. In reality, the oldest 2.5yr old cars today are still selling for £55-£60k so there should be a fair whack of equity left in the cars at 3yrs old.

Not quite, the quoted figure is 50/50 dealer and Audi UK. So the dealers cut is part of the discount on the vehicle. Audi UK's contribution is then on top.

the way orangewheels displays the discount is misleading, it is just the way their system is setup but essentially you are getting the finance discount relevant to the quarter, just the way the discount is applied as doodle says.
went through this myself - OW had the best price, their dealer is london based. I just got a dealer who was fairly close to me to match their price plus some little extras.

You've painted a very unusual picture there Leo.

Whilst no doubt their will be equity in 3yrs against the Audi GFV, do you really think a base car sold today for £65-60k will be worth £55-60k in 2.5yrs?

Once these cheaper cars start hitting the used market, values will tumble. When the C7 RS6 was launched, Audi gave the car no financial support so the cars were selling for (with a few options), close to £90k with a few over £100k. These cars are now £55k so a drop of £35-45k in real money which is about right.

If i'm wrong then the C7 RS6 will be the only Audi RS that's ever bucked the market trend for such cars, including previous RS's.

I hear what you're saying from an internal dealer POV, but in reality I'm buying an Audi RS6 not an Audi Bristol* RS6, so surely it's irrelevant where/how the discount comes from, it's still discount. The discount the dealer is offering may be 10%, but total discount is 15% because Audis contribution goes towards my deposit which effectively takes money off the price of the car?

That's what I did with my B8, I printed off the Drivethedeal webpage and started walking into dealers until one of them would beat it and do a deal on an incoming car because I'd read others had beaten the DTD prices. That what I'd be doing here if I do decide to go for it.

There's so many factors though I.e finding a dealer who needs to hit target, or a cancelled order etc etc. The chase is part of the fun for me.

Yes, but only if you take the finance. Technicality, but it's also accounted differently. AUK could also chose to alter their contribution, not likely, but has happened.
