Hi All,
Recommendations required for new car detail. Dealer has offered life shine (not convinced as it'll be some muppet applying it who doesn't care), spoke to a detailer local to the dealer who has offered Gtechniq and this would take 3 days and cost more than twice as much or the final option which has served me well, Polish and wax the car myself?
All opinions welcome.

What colour is the car?

My most recent experience of GTechniq was awful, it had to be polished off. I won't use it or any other ceramic coatings again.

Single stage polish plus wax should be plenty, unless the dealer preps it with wire wool in which case it may need two stage polish.

Sepang blue

I had my paintwork enhanced and then a Gyeon Quartz coating applied to my car just over a month ago by Polished Bliss up here in Scotland. It is guaranteed for up to 2 years and so far has been fantastic. Foam and then wash, towel dry and back to new. I would recommend it for any colour.

3 days on a new car is ridiculous. But give any dealer applied coating a wide berth too.
I would clean and Autoglym myself using high gloss finish if you want extra sparkle.
Save the detail for 18 months down the line when the paint starts to need it.
The finish on my RS6 from the factory was superb. And it is covered in crap now aanywa.

When I looked into Gtechniq Serum for my new car, both detailers I spoke to said they would need the car for three days or so. Apparently, it has to cure and they like that to happen in their workshops.

That is what the guy said, first day to prep the car and add sealant, at least 10 hours for it to cure, then add another coat of wax and detail the rest of the trims etc.

Apparently Gyeon MOHs 2 is the new Gtechniq....however I ended up having the swirls machined out and then Swissvax Endurance for the winter. Technically depending when you arrive and how much work is needed then 3 days is not unreasonable for those ceramic finishes.

To be honest if I go ahead with the detailer I will get the dealer to take the car straight to him before anyone else touches it. The detailer said he has done new vehicle prep a few times and delivered back to the supplying dealer ready for the customer to collect.
I have seen how main dealer valeting bays operate and I'd rather they didn't touch it.

Still don't get the three days. A day prep (it is a new car after all). Cure overnight. Then finish.

It's a two day job.

Without wanting to sound like a detailing geek, the AG stuff is OK, but there's a lot more product out there that does have a more complex application and curing cycle.

Had the Gyeon Mohs+ applied to our Macan back in January when it was new and am very happy with it so far, makes washing the car very quick and easy, it is a very good product.
It did require a min of 10 hours to cure, the detailer had the car for 2 days overall.

True and good idea, dealers seem more reasonable nowadays when you ask not to let the YTS boyz clean the car before collection.
