Winter Wheels and Tyres

Post by Dallas83 » Wed Aug 26, 2015 11:20 am

Hey Everyone

I hate even thinking about winter time coming into play, but i'm trying to think ahead of the game here. Just wondering what sort of size wheels and tyres everyone has gone with on there RS6 ?

Cheers
Mike

Hi Michael, Audi offer a winter package on the continent which consists of 20 inch wheels and tyres 245/40/20 (Continental Winter Contact)

4th post.

Normally people drop a size and go up in tyre height when they go for a winter set but I'm sure you can fit winter rubber to the 21's too. As you know, I have a set of nice new 20's going spare :bigblink:

Need to sort this issue myself to. A set of the standard 20 in rims would do the job.

I got a set of genuine Audi wheels and tyres from German eBay for my car after the dealer informed me that Audi no longer do the winter wheel and tyre package for the RS6 in the UK :audibash: They are the 20" winter wheels as supplied by Audi Germany fitted with Dunlop winter tyres. Got them for a trip to the Alps, and they were excellent. £1000 cheaper too!

spoke to the local stealer today, last years price was a whopping £3k, when the Germans were doing them at €3k, which really does suggest some form of stealing is genuinely going on, also with that no choice on the rubber.

I just got some 285/35/21' Miche Alpin sports costed out at £1.2k, much cheaper than the other option! I also looked at the 245/40/20 option, and the rubber is great value via Cam skills, quoting 600 quid is for Conti's, add a set of BBS after markets and thats still less than the Aud quote from last year.

They can't say anything till end sept, by which time we will have no option if we haven't ordered our rare as hens teeth sized tyres!

I have the winter alloys and tires. Kind of nice to have sthg oem. Was part of my nego when I bought the car. Would have pained to pay the sums indicated above. Grip is much much less on winter tires as one should expect. On the positive side, switching for winter saves on the uber expensive summer tires :)
