Load weight

Post by bobjebb » Fri Jul 24, 2015 5:45 pm

Not having the manual to hand, and in appreciation of thoughts..

I have a 500kg load (plus me) to take on the motorway next week... Too much?

From 2013 Brochure
Unladen weight3, kg 1935
Gross weight limit, kg 2565

630Kg

2015 Brochure (Face Lift)
Unladen weight3, kg 1950
Gross weight limit, kg 2580

630kg

Clearly the 2015 car has become fat and bloated :)

Vehicle’s unladen weight without driver
(calculated in accordance with the current
version of Directive 92/21/EEC). The fitting
of additional equipment may increase the
vehicle’s unladen weight and drag
coefficient, whereupon the potential
carrying capacity and top speed will be
correspondingly reduced.

All previous RS6 versions have had towing prohibited by Audi. Worth checking before you go ahead...
C6 RS6 Plus with a few sensible mods...

Not relevant here, but the current RS6 has an option for a tow bar so can tow.

Well that's fine bobjebb but I did try to tell you that you could carry up to 630kg on a standard spec car including the driver....? So you would have been fine..

It's tight though. If I encounter any problems like at speed bumps at a service station with 500kg of chicken skin in the boot, the embarrassment will kill me.

Seems the RS6 doesn't float that well regardless of how much load you are carrying!

no problem, i regularly carry 500 kg of calibration weights, tool box, passenger and myself, so probably near on 700 kg. car still sits well, although slightly lower and still handles well. you notice the weight on initial first drive, but soon forget how much you are carrying. I load the weights behind the front seats to keep the COG balanced and prevent them from moving around.
