Detailing a new RS6?

Post by Jamesch » Sat May 09, 2015 9:27 am

Hi all,

I know nothing about this, but wondered whether you would recommend any detailing of a new panther black (crystal paint) RS6 - expected delivery end June? Is it needed/recommended/worth it to protect the paint/leather/chrome etc? If so, what would you recommend, and how much should it cost? And who is best to go to for the detailing?- I am in Surrey.

Many thanks in advance

100% do it.. The difference is incredible and the cleaning becomes a lot easier going forward. Can highly recommend valet magic in Camberley 01344 891891

Top guy and has had plenty of 6's through now

Thanks very much ERS35. I was offered an Audi Total Care package by the dealer, which included some sort of AutoGlym treatment to the exterior and interior for around £500. Would you say someone like Valet Magic would be a better bet than getting it done by Audi?

Yes. And it'll cost less and the finish will be better.

No question.. Proper detailing in a different league - if you look on his Facebook page there's some good pics.
I'll see if I have any of mine

The dealership applied products are a complete waste of money - its all profit for the dealership;
It would be better if you spent £30 in halfords and did it yourself. It least it would be washed with clean mitts that way !

Definitely use a detailer - for the same cost if not a little less.

Paul at 'Auto Curators' - formerly 'ShineOnDetail' is also excellent.

Glad this thread has started. I can absolutely recommend proper detailing over dealer hatchet jobs, but it's been a while since I had one done. (Pic of the last car I even washed attached, in 2008! and the only other one before that in 2005!

It seems there's a massive amount of options for new car preparation, waxes to synthetic sealants, colour specific, wraps, film etc etc. It's hard to know - other that I for one will absolutely not be doing it myself. My personal recommendation is to have the basic bits like foam, something for the wheels (recommendations?) leather care (liquid leather was always the one I last looked) and decent cloths.

Other than that leave it to the pros - the good news is that its the sort of game, whereby pride is everything, so generally speaking these detailers know what they are doing - the crap guys don't last long...

Expected delivery end of June - May I ask how you know? What was your build week? Either way, Not long now!
