Does anyone take their RS6 on a track, and if so any suggestions for brakes? I have the ceramics and they are terrible. The pedal disappears after 10 minutes - either the fluid boils, or some other problem, and even worse after 3/4 track days I had to replace the full set of disks. So that's not going to work. I want to get a kit that is going to stand up to track use (so not the standard steels) and not be crazy expensive to replace all the time. Any ideas?

wow you got through a set of ceramics pretty quickly there.... perhaps it would be better to get a more dedicated track day car over the RS6 - after all its a big heavy estate and the cost of the brakes would easily get you something more interesting for tracking:

probably about the same cost as two rounds of brakes... obviously it wouldn't work if you need the one car to do it all.

Were you running with the TC on? Switch it off and you might run a touch cooler. For the weight of the '6 there isn't much that will cope with trackwork, 10mins does seems lame though, upgrading the fluid and pads would be the first port of call. Alternatively racing steel disc options might be best suited to you due to the consumable cost difference. MTM do 400mm steelies, also check in with AP, Alcon, Performance Friction and Brembo et al.
A member on here ran an expensive aftermarket 'ramic setup on a C6 but still cooked the fluid on track, among other issues. Heavy car, hot brakes.
Even lighter more focused cars will destroy a set of 'ramics and so their owners shelve the 'ramics for a good steel setup. It's a common misconception that braking system featuring ceramic discs are indestructible but they require the same care that steel brakes require on track. Yes the discs can take the heat but the pads, backing plates and fluid can't.

Seems to be an issue with the C7 set-up which I believe uses a different caliper to the C6.

C6 runs strong, pretty much all day long in my experience: nurburgring, track work, Vmax. They will wear after 'extensive' use, but C6 set-up does not have the issues you describe.

Might be work considering a caliper change to C6 ?

Audi are aware of 'issues' with the C7 ceramics I believe, so might be worth knocking on their door with a 'please explain'

Dave, what's been your longest session on track with the C6 'ramics? Any Nburger laps?

Did Silverstone and Caldwell Park and the tyres gave out before the brakes did.

(Amar did need to replace them due to wear thou, but I blame him at vMAX)

Facelift c7 RS6 have revised ceramics as they had issues with the previous ones I was told by a salesman.

Does Performance friction offer anything that would fit into RS6 C7?

High temp. Brake fluid is the 1st best upgrade over stock fluid, if the car is driven aggressively w stock brake fluid, not long after the brake will go very “soft”....

Have done many Nurburgring GP sessions and plenty of laps, 18 last weekend alone and the only problem I have is with tyres bulging or falling apart.

Leave TC off and understand that the car is 2T and you will be fine. Drive it like its a 1.2T BMW 328 and you will break it in a fashion your wallet will never forgive!

As above, I've tracked many cars with OEM brakes & never suffered with fade or performance degradation, other than VMAX which did ruin a set of front discs on my Sportec C5 RS6 & DMS E60 M5. Cant speak for Audi ramics, but as above if the car's driven like a Lotus then you'll kill the brakes, but if caned in a 2 ton road car kind of way then you 'should' be fine. Limit session lengths & plenty of cool down time. As for the best aftermarket pads, i've always found Pagid RS29's to be exceptional on track. No idea if they produce in the sizes you need but i'd be fairly confident they do.

Just remembered i killed my rear pads at Doni a couple of weeks ago too but that was due to the traction control being very active.
