Bike carriers / roof boxes

Hey all - want to know if anyone has fitted either of the above to their RS6 as I might need to do something in the summer for a family holiday with lots of crap to take - so any recommendations would be great.

I've got no packs such as carbon applied to my Car and I don't have a tow bar either (but can this be retro fitted? and is it really £1k as per the options list - or more if added after?!?)

Cheers

The RS6 Roof rails are exactly the same as those on my RS4, and I use Thule Aero Bars combined with Thule 591 Bike racks
They work well, but you do need to Zip Tie the clamps on the bikes as I've had them pop open on the move, which isn't what you need at 150mph ;)
The aero bars are easy to fit and have a rubber section on the mount point, so don't leave any marks on the rails

You can even mount a small child on there too ;

Got exactly the same on my M5 & they work a treat. Slightly different mounting kit as no roof rails on the M5, but other than that the same. Aero bars give virtually no wind noise so i may keep mine attached for the Summer. I opted for the black bars as they look better with Privacy glass & the black accents on my car.

It advises driving at no more than 80mph with a bike on the Carrier so Graeme's incident may have been specific to his speed :drink: :beerchug:

I've got a massive Farad roofbox on mine, on crappy square profile halfords own bars. Admittedly its probably not as quiet an original car as those with newer rides but over the kids, the road noise and the stereo the noise difference is minimal. It possibly did in excess of the recommended 80 and I still got 19 dinosaurs to the gallon......and it meant I could still see out the back window.

I have no use for a roof box at present, but the design of the 56nord one makes me want one.

No word on pricing just yet, and I can imagine the carbon fibre one will come with a lovely price tag. But the plastic one will do for me, if the design is just as stunning.

Quick update on this thread - it's not the best pic but gives a decent idea of how it looks. I ended up getting a Thule Motion 800 with Thule Wingbar Edge bars. Originally I was going to go for a black one but Halfords were selling this grey one online for £200 instead of £439 so it was a no-brainer really.

I'd definitely recommend it if any of you need more temporary space on a trip - especially in combination with the Thule Pack+Go set which is 4 duffel bags that fit nicely inside, one of which is slimmer to fit into the profile of the nose area.

Ready for the summer holidays.

Thule Wingbar Edge 9595 + Thule Dynamic 800/M

Surprising quiet at motorway cruising speeds...
