Expel paint protection

Post by parmd » Fri Feb 13, 2015 9:05 am

Good morning all,

So after having a disastrous experience trying to order a FL car over Christmas but ending up with a ore-FL car I went and placed an order for a new C63s which was even more of a disaster. So long story short I have a FL car on order and just wanted to ask if anyone had experience of Xpel paint protection film and also your opinion on how resilient the phantom black paint is to fine scratches? I've had a number of black cars and although they look great in my opinion I've always found it marks easily particularly on BMW metallic paint, any thoughts? Plus is the autoglym Audi offer any better than the normal autoglym dealer offering. Thanks all

No experience of Audi paint until now...One thing that I have noticed is the 'rash' as the lower rear doors, I had mine correct there after only 3k miles, I would say on a black car this could be an important area to cover up...BMW paint is awful. Wife's carbon black m50d is going back to have a load of strange stains corrected under warranty, even talk of a respray!

Oh and when I picked up the RS6 the dealer said it had the ceramic coat applied and I would never ever need to polish it. I asked them about tar spots, he said it will wash off! What a load of crap. Total waste of time for suckers that don't like to wash a car themselves.

Thanks Mcma1 I had a feeling the paint coating from Audi might be the usual rubbish. Interesting toured having a problem with you're m50d as I had the same issue with mine too which was carbon black. It ended up having to go back to the prep centre in the north east somewhere for a re spray, I did have to take to Facebook etc to get them to fix it as well looked awful.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to try and get the entire front end wrapped in Xpel and maybe the rear bumper. I'll post up some pics when it's done, cheers

Hi, I have the Paint shield SUNTEK on my M6 GC CP, Paint shield made a great job and it really does protect piantwork.
They can put it where you want it.

On a side note: What's the MPG of your wifes X5M50D please, as I am looking at buying one for my wife. Many thanks J :beerchug:

I only kept mine for 3months and sold it with 2000 on the click. I managed at best an average of 26-28mpg with 60% driving around town and relatively short journeys

Parm d check out ceramic pro mate really good stuff g techniq also, try to find a good Detailer and they will be able to demonstrate the product. It's all good until I actually saw it then was amazed mike has it on his M5 and when he started to whack the paint in a downwards motion no damage I even tried it and morning, on a unprotected panel it was creating quite significant scratches. This stuff does work by no means trust the dealers with any of there's, it all about the prep and product. What's the use of getting done of the dealer if they already damage paint with incorrect washing techniques then coat it, not only that but they won't have anything to the same level as the stuff the detailers use. Also what colour and spec u went for Parmd same as last time. :biggrin3:

Whereabouts in the country are you based? Whatever you do make sure you use suntek film not xpel. All the big boys paintshield/topaz are now using the stuff. Plenty of info here: http://www.draykefields.co.uk/ppf/

Hi Andre, I live in the East Midlands area. I normally get Paul at PWPro to look after my cars, I reached out to him last week and the plan is to get paint shield to come to him and do the front end of the car and then Paul will do one of the coatings that needs to cure overnight? I'm not really up to date on the coatings

Hey buddy,

I went with phantom black with stone leather, kept all the options the same but this time round the numbers were right and I actually managed to get a build slot that became available so my car is due to be with the dealer last week of April :jump:

What's happening with yours mate, any news?

Yeah buddy ordered a while before christmas build week 29 down to 28, hope it keeps heading this way at a fast rate or even if a eralier slot became available.
The ceramics are probably whats causing the hold up :beerchug: congrats on your order too mate.
