Matte paint

Post by NLM13 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 5:09 pm

Hi guys,

do any of you have the matte daytona grey paint? I'm going to look at 2 RS6's next week, both Daytona but one is matte, one normal. The matte car has a better spec but not too sure what the paint is like to live with? any issues with cleaning etc?

Any insights much appreciated.

It requires special washing, you cannot clean as per normal paint.

Any mark requires paint and that's expensive.

Is it wrapped matte or laquered with matte clearcoat? Will it be your daily drive? If so then I would honestly advise against it.

As said, you have to treat it differently when it comes to cleaning. Any paint repairs will have to be edge to edge as you won't be able to SMART repair defects on a matte laquer finish which could then lead to colour match issues.

If youre in the UK have a chat with http://www.draykefields.co.uk who can install a special matt clear film. Nothing to fear

Wrapping a new matte car might work, though personally I'm not a fan of wraps. However I'd take a look at the paintwork on a used car. All the matte cars I've seen have had horrendous swirl marks.
