Panther black with black styling pack..options?

Post by parmd » Tue Nov 04, 2014 5:50 pm

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed before that Audi won't let you order a black car with the gloss black styling pack. So I really want the stealthy look without having to pay for the carbon pack, how are you guys getting round this if your in the same boat? I'm thinking of getting the satin silver pack and wrapping the bits black(not myself personally of course!). Is there an easier way to get round this? :audibash:

Someone on here has an RS6 grille (the type with the "quattro" section in the bottom) for sale that has already been professionally wrapped in black. So, for full stealth:
Don't bother with the Alu optics
Buy the black-wrapped grille (£450 IIRC).
Voila! a black car except for the mirrors, window trims and roof rails.

Nice one, sounds like a plan now I just need a delivery date!! Oh hang on Audi need to workout how to put it into their own computer system!! Dumbfounded that they have my deposit and can't put the order in, I believe some of you chaps already have build slots notts Audi are way behind the curve on this

May want to double check that the pre-FL grill will def fit the FL car... I was under the impression that the grill dimensions had changed a touch.

Obviously the principle works but just check before getting that second grill cheap

Just buy the car as is and get it wrapped.

When I ordered mine I had the same issue so found a good wrapper and he did an awesome job and you wouldn't know.

Cheers

Hi Varsity, yep I'm going to wrap it. Can't see the point of low weight carbon on such a heavy car. However I would say that as it's so pricey!!

Anyone been told the reason why you can't order black with black styling? There can't be any logical reason. Looked through the german brochure and german configurator and there's no such limitation there so it's obviously possible.

Is it just a case of Audi UK trying to make all black cars more of a premium?

No idea markwm, I've booked my car in to have all the chrome wrapped in black including the window trims. Had everything priced up for replacing to black and it ended up at around £4k. Annoying but what else can you do other than stump up for the carbon pack

Ideally I'd want a black car with black/carbon but I can't pay 4.5k for it(6k inc mirrors), so would probably end up with the next best thing, daytona+black styling and thousands of pounds saved.

Another thing I don't get, they force you to get gloss black mirrors if you choose the gloss black styling pack.
One possible option, albeit not ideal would be to specify audi exclusive paint Black Mamba for £1500, then you can add the black styling pack :audibash:

I had mine sprayed front and rear, bought carbon mirrors and then had the window frames and roof rails wrapped in black.

Vwcheung saw some pics of your car looks great buddy, how did the wrap come out on the window trims? Any chance of a few side shots please? I'm having mine wrapped too but wasn't sure how they'd come out. Thanks
