Just fitted MTM carbon mirrors....

Post by Mcma1 » Tue Sep 23, 2014 10:56 pm

Finally got around to putting these on. They are genuine audi parts so no issues. In fact a little worrying that only 2 small screws that you can easily get at are all thats holding them apart from a few tabs. Anyway rubbish pics but very happy.

Cheers buddy, MTM take genuine A6 covers, carbon vacuum them and then laquer. Prob the best way to produce them with quality and guaranteed fitment...grille next. Too late to start removing the bumper as I need to use the car in the morning!

Nearly as nice as the genuine ones from Audi.

Look good.

The carbon wing mirrors look fantastic against the dark paint.

I have just got myself a pair of these and they look awesome. Do you have any tips on fitting?

I got the audi instructions from mtm but pretty useless. And in German.

First job is to pull off the glass, use a suction cup. But be very very careful here as the auto dim wires are soldered onto the back and could be ripped off as I did!!!

You then only need to remove the 2 small screws you will see going into the mirror cover.

The black plastic trim on the underside is all that's stopping the cover pulling upwards now so use a plastic trim tool to release the clips and that's you. This is the most tricky part. I couldn't figure out how to get this trim part completely off but managed ok and no clips or tabs got damaged.

If you get stuck let me know and I can take a few pics.

Very helpful thank you. I'm on Amazon now buying a suction cup!
Will finish the car off nicely, looks silly IMO with carbon everywhere else and silver mirrors!
Will let you know how it goes.

Thx again
