So cheap in the USA that it doesn't matter, just fire in octane booster.
Is 93 Ron the highest in the USA?
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

Never understood why the US come up with a figure that is averaged out from the RON & MON rating?

Damn, is this thread coming back on topic ?

Ok, so I spoke to somebody who knows the answer. He said that the statement whereby super is specified over standard is there because super was the fuel that was used during the certification of the engine. You can stick in what you like and it will make no difference. Feel free to stick plain unleaded in.

What that means: So, if you buy an Audi RS6 and choose to benchmark the engine, then the specified (certified) power output will be attained if you benchmark using Super (within acceptable manufacturing variation); Audi will not guarantee that the engine develops 552bhp if it is benchmarked using standard fuel.

My commentary: Of course, all this could then be interpreted as meaning that Super will give you more power... but you would be an extrapolation from the facts rather than being a fact in its own right.

I knew if I posted this, this would happen, and it's a fair question. Trouble is, I don't want to answer it. I work in the automotive industry and the person I asked knows the team that developed this engine and was qualified to answer the question. I appreciate that doesn't help much. And I am not being drawn on Dribbler's question at all.

You're right, it doesn't help but at least we know it has nothing to do with the price of fish.

This is the Internet, with information like that you've just given, you'd have retained more credibility not posting anything at all.
Funny thing is, if you'd answered Dribbler's question, we'd probably believed the answer. Strange old thing this Internet...

Whatevs. You are right, it's a funny old place, the internet. Full of people writing 5hit. I will leave it to those who have participated in this thread to decide who out of the two of us sounds like they might be talking it.

‎Yep, that's your problem now, everyone knows my stories are '5hit' but now you've added a story of your own, and it was told to you by a fisherman who spoke to a bunch of fishermen that apparently set the market price for fish.
It's a steep battle when you preface a story like yours with "...I work in the industry..." then proceed with information that was told to you 3rd-hand.

There's one thing correct with your previous post...

Aah, you're like my own personal troll. Sweet.
If you don't think what I have posted is plausible then please feel free to carry on believing whatever suits you. The silly thing is, I could have told you i had just got off the phone to the head of powertrain development at Audi who'd told me that, but it wouldnt have made it any more or any less credible. So me declining to discuss my job is irrelevant. I am sure that for somone like you nothing less than a tin of custard powder photograhed in the hands of Ferdinand Piech would be sufficient.

I'm far from personal but if that's what you need to not get mad, then I don't mind.
