Nah, it makes perfect sense. Anyone could see that it's not a TDi, but it takes a much more discerning eye to tell the difference between an S and an RS. Anyone looking for an RS for mischief is slightly more likely to be fooled.

Is a badge change alone really worth it considering the amount of other RS logos all over the car? i.e You just have to cover the calipers up (RS logo), change the interior (RS logos everywhere inc embossed into the seats), the exhaust tips (needs quads not ovals), change the alloys and finally change the honeycomb RS grill

Personally I think that if they are looking for an RS, no amount of badge changes and/or debadging will help. If they want an RS they will know exactly what one looks like. Afterall, these are professionals.
