Torque Steer
Re: Torque Steer
Defniitely. I didn't mean the first phrase as a bad point just to maybe address unrealistic expectations.
Glad you got away with the tank slapper, I've only really had a couple at relatively low speed so that musta given you a good adrenaline rush!

Re: Torque Steer
Good news is that, ( as per others ) the Michelin Man, not literally of course, on the stand at Goodwood gave me the ruling. The SS can be used on the car, R01 is an Audi recommendation and in reality bumps the price up too.
Even the Miltek huy I was chatting to said the same re the Dunlops, Audi UK if you are listening??
ESP now set to sport in attempt to use the Dunlops as soon as can. However this may induce more bad behaviour I fear !
I also asked the Audi guys, why you can spec down to stitch colour on a seat but have no tyre option? Seems a bit daft.

Re: Torque Steer
Mine does this too, mine has air, 21's and conti's
Like others have said, it occurs mostly when you are overtaking, plant it early and you then fight the thing in a scary way.
Its unstable on the way out of your lane and if you keep your foot in it unstable on the way back in.
I personally don't think its tyres and more a suspension or driveline setup issue. I would love to drive a DRC car to compare.
Scared the <beep> out of me the 1st time, and I've learnt to respect the throttle a little more these days.

Re: Torque Steer
If it really is torque steer then it's too much front wheel bias on the power delivery.
This could probably be tuned out with a custom map couldn't it? Might be worth a call to Mrc.

Re: Torque Steer
Isn't the quattro on the RS6 still the mechanical type rather then the electronic type so no remap?Shinobi675 wrote:If it really is torque steer then it's too much front wheel bias on the power delivery.

Well I thought it was but now have read about torque vectoring I'm not so sure.

Re: Torque Steer
Yer that's why I assumed it was Ecu controlled because I thought I'd read about its 4 wheel torque vectoring.

Re: Torque Steer
Can someone back to back an air car to a DRC car doing a simulated brutal WOT overtake and confirm its not the suspension?
Else its the driveline, probably the trick rear diff fighting the mechanical Quattro

Re: Torque Steer
Hi all,
My first post here. I am picking up my RS6 in two days. After reading this thread I started to think if this could possible be a solution to the torque steer?

Kind regards,

Re: Torque Steer
Not sure if it would help resolve the issue of not, but the installation instructions are different to the normal ones you see - e.g. "Step 3 – Observe the exposed transmission mount, and take note of the large void in the rubber. That can’t be good for performance, can it? Think of objects you can use to fill the void: old socks, yesterday’s newspaper, that weird quinoa stuff that your wife bought for $20 at Whole Foods, but nobody wants to eat. Panic. Remember that you bought the 034Motorsport Transmission Mount Insert. Feel better."Heden wrote:Hi all,

Re: Torque Steer
Just a quick thought on this particularly with respect to it being noticeable when overtaking - handling could be compromised because of how the car is aligned. I've just had my B8 RS4 re-aligned (to solve a particular issue) by Audi and it is now very unstable when making overtakes and crossing over the crown over the road, yet it didn't used to be, so is purely down to alignment.
A review of a modified RS6 in Audi Driver was interersting in that the best mod, including a tune to bring out 680PS and 811Nm of torque (!), was an alignment that enabled the car to be a much better steer than it was before even with all that torque.

Re: Torque Steer
That was a really interesting read. Somewhat surprising to think that the RS6 would come out of the factory with alignment anything but spot on. Nonetheless if it was a true side-by-side comparison and it made that much of a difference, got to be worth doing. Two plus hours for alignment seems a lot of time to spend too.

Re: Torque Steer
I've learned from experience that the alignment on new Audi's can be very much hit and miss. All have needed some level of adjustment, despite expecting them to be spot on when fresh out of the box. I've also had a number of alignment sessions from different dealerships and the end result can vary quite significantly in how the car feels to drive - not all have been good results.
I'm having the RS4 set-up by an independant alignment specialist in a few weeks time so will see what the difference is in how the car feels to drive...

Re: Torque Steer
I really, really like the look of the litchfield stage 2, but Im not quite sure whether Im ready to divorce my warranty and embrace a TD1 flag just yet....
The allignment sounds like a good option to go for though.
