The C6 superseded the C5 or do you only work in odd numbers or sommit?
If it isn't quicker as standard against your C5, then it'd only require the mildest of tweaks. 200kegs lighter than a C6 and 2 extra gears. It would also wrong-foot you in the twisties, then disappear.

That said, I cannot wait to see some C5 vs C6 vs C7 group tests.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Can't believe it isn't significantly faster than any C5, and it won't melt gearbox or suspension.

I had a Sportec C5 which was well over 550bhp & have driven a couple of C6's. In standard form the C7 is night & day quicker across country & from a standing start. It also felt a lot quicker than my breathed on C5, however having never driven a breathed on C6 i can't compare those head to head.

My only concern would be the transmission as i'd have assumed the S-Tronic would have been more able to cope with the power/torque given they've slapped one in the R8 V10+. My C5 & i assume the C6 had Tip boxes & i had 2 replaced on my C5. Surely if Audi had slipped an S-Tronic box into the C7 RS6 it could feasibly have been quicker & smoother?

It wouldn't have been smoother, a slushy will always win that race IMO. The S-Tronic in the R8 10 is a revelation but the motors are different beasts, one a torque monster and the other a more highly strung 8000+ RPM howler in a way lighter package. Weight and torque would kill the S-Tronic in a C7, besides, the ZF 8 is already well proven for this type of application... and probably cheaper.

the ZF8 has got nothing but fantastic reviews, in all applications ... whether that be the BiTurbo A6, or Jag F-Type

Indeed, it's a good box. I was impressed. Major leap forward from C6's and that was pretty good.

Would it be the same box i've got in my A8 as that's an 8 Speed Tip?

Is a lovely box & certainly a massive improvement over the wife's 7 speed S-Tronic.

Just got back from my test drive with the new c7 - loved it!

The gearbox is a very nice bit of kit and well matched to the engine which is pretty fecking lovely, even coming from the V10. What I found most impressive was how much more nimble the car felt - it's no go-cart still, but over the c6 it's def a marked improvement - through the country lanes it gave much more confidence under braking and getting the mass into the corner (and that's with stealies).

Now I just need go find the cash to buy one!? Def the next car and getting back into the c6 after the test, it did feel dated. The best way I can sum it up is as follows: I feel like johnny depp, married to Vanessa paradis, but amber heard has just turned up on the scene..... What to do!? :-/

Is very clever how this RS variant hides it's weight so well. Defo more chuck able than previous models. Would have been my next car too if Audi had been more competative.

I think that's Audi's point, they don't seem arsed about competing. They are giving the RS6 a major push, advertising pretty much like no other RS car I can remember. Dealerships full of posters and banners. By all accounts they are selling well.
