You're right, it doesn't go back into S mode. Knocking the gear lever down ofc puts it into S mode but I'm still unsure if it does the rest (exhaust diff etc).
As a quick way of getting back into loud: car (assuming you've left it on the selection page) then depress central knob. Don't think there's a need to switch from one mode to another first?
Just two presses, or 3 for me as i default to navigation.

I tried that the other day and it seemed to work but didn't fully test if it was the same or whether it was just like shifting into S mode.
