Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
Mileage isn't an issue, RS models come with 30-40 odd miles. So that's one less thing to worry about.

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
The only issue that can't be fixed or explained is the 14 registration. I'd be fuming over that.
In around 4 weeks time you are going to see 64 plates driving around and the OP should be one of them. Its also going to be a few hundred quid on the second hand value at least.
Same mileage same spec same condition cars, one on a 64 plate the other a 14, which would you buy? Its going to take a price difference of some significance to choose the "older" registration.
Dealer should either extend warranty by a couple of years or throw in free servicing for the first couple IMHO.

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
Well, 1 week on and not much further forward:
1- '14 registration- dealer assures me that it will be registerd as a 64- still no credible reason given why it had '14 plates front and rear on it when my wife viewed it!
2- Red calipers- dealer has made it clear that they will not retrofit red calipers despite it being on my signed order sheet
3- MY15- not avaialble yet, some bable about it all being Audi's fault, and despite it being a condition of sale there is nothing they could have done about it when the order was placed.
I tried to compromise a bit in order to be in a position to accept the car. So taking some guidance from the replies I got here, I told the dealer that if he retrofitted Red calipers and added an Audi extended waranty then I'd reconsider taking the car. On Tuesday I send an email detailing this, all I got a 1 liner email saying they were looking to offer me a MY'15, and were awaiting details of potential delivery dates from Audi (transferring the blame again!) and would update me at by the end of the week. Needless to say I am still waiting on an update!
It is really frustrating as I work abroad (1 month on 1 month off) and although internet access is reasonable, the telephone quality is poor with a frustrating delay that does not support a decent conversation! So I haven't been able to talk directly to the dealer. I Still have 14 days until I get home so I doubt I'll get anywhere until then. I also emailed Audi UK, but they don't seem interested in helping me either!
Some may say it is a fair offer for the dealer to get me an MY15 with red calipers, but that is what it was supposed to be in the first place over 3 months ago! Now I am looking at a least another 3 month wait! Totally fed up with this situation- it was totally avoidable if the dealer had fessed up 10 days after I placed the order- when I know from the documentation they knew it wasn't going to be exactly as I orderd!

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
The problem you have is that there isn't any guarantee the my 15 cars will come with red calipers.
Specs change all the time an whilst you are completely within your rights to reject the car as to not what you wanted I don't think you are going to get too much out of the dealer unless they think try can't sell the car.
But what if 10 days after you had been told, the only difference is you would have cancelled the car then and not now. If they still are not making my15 cars now then it doesn't matter if you order back then it now - you'd get a my14 car so there's no extra delay in order to get what you want. Granted, you'd feel much better than now though if the communication wasn't so piss poor.
There are places that can strip them down and paint/coat them properly- maybe worth getting a quite and seeing if the dealer will compromise there?

This must be incredibly frustrating for you. I would be the same as you and want exactly what was agreed and signed for at point of sale. I can only assume your dealer knows they will sell the car easily if you reject it.

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
Fair point regarding the 10 days, however it was the dealer who couldn't wait to tell me about the changes for MY15 (although subtle). I got my heart set on the red calipers (trivial to some), and then chose Daytona Pearl as the red calipers would lift the not so startling side view of the RS6 (imo). I was even on this forum trying to get opinions on colours concerned that Daytona Pearl might be too conservative (although it oozes class). My colour choice would probably have been different if I'd realised the change in spec. Just glad I didn't order Sepang Blue when the dealer had mentioned it was going to become standard for MY15, who knows what colour they'd have chosen on my behalf!
I have even been considering getting Brembos all round- but that’s another 4K or so and who knows what it would do to the warranty- whether relevant to the warranty claim or not!
I am almost certain that they have a customer waiting in the wings for my RS6- I believe that is why they aren't willing to budge- that way they can make a profit (all be it allegedly small)on 2 cars! One customer will be very happy the other far from it, but hey what do they care!

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
The red calipers are available on the MY15 RS7 so I think it is safe to assume they will also be offered on the MY15 RS6 - especially as Audi has only just added them to the options list.
You won't be able to spec a MY15 car for quite a few weeks yet, and I would be highy surprised if you take delivery before the end of the calendar year.
Personally, I think the upgrade in spec will be worth the wait but only you can decide. The trouble might turn out to be that you won't even be able to order an MY14 car at this rate. Audi may close the books on MY14 cars at any moment...

I think feeltheburn and wildbore are talking at cross purposes.
Feeltheburn is referring to MY15 as the current face car with the minor changes (colour options and red caliper options etc). Wildbore is referring to MY15 as the upcoming facelift car.

Correct- MY15 is/was supposed to be minor running changes. No longer clear if facelift will be a MY15, or MY16 or indeed if there will ever officially be a MY15 (according to another A6 forum)

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
OK, putting aside the MY thingies which seem to baffle everybody, I have a strong suspicion that the window for ordering a replacement car will close very very soon, if it hasn't already, and it won't re-open for at least two months (if the timetable for model upgrade for the RS6 matches that of the RS7).
The OP might want to ask his dealer to confirm that they still can order an RS6... and, if so, for how much longer.

A7 is open again, don't think that includes RS7 though. It's a slow process!
I concur that facelift won't appear in showrooms until next year.

Dunno why you're so fussed over caliper colour, brakes are still gonna be piss poor!

Re: Dealer let me down - Delivery Mileage
The car is way faster than me- it will never be on a track- I nearly lost a good friend thanks to someone who dug deep into his bag of driving talent and it was sadly empty- so no street or back road racing for me- I'm not 17 any more! Absolutely no need for 'ramics on public roads IMO- on the autobahn maybe, on the M6 pointless , and that also applies to the M6 toll road
But each to their own so I am not dissing anyone's choice of extras!
