A C7 will keep a GTR honest in a straight line but more importantly it'll out brake one (with stealies). I'm not sure about repeated stopping (track work) but the C7 brake systems will haul up that beast of an avant before the GTR plows into a brick wall, that's impressive, huh?

Big time. Didn't know that. I'd have it on ceramics, though the stealies are OK - better than the C6, progress on the tech and a bit less weight to haul up.

NOTE: I've started it at the brake test. Also, it's a riiiiiiiiidiculous match up but worth it just to see the braking.

C6 equally as impressive for one stop on steels.
Any more than that and u get nothing but fade.
Ramics should be default for the C7.

My brother recently bought a new M5 and got a great deal with 0% finance and a good dealer contribution, can't see Audi doing that. However, I do see some point in this as I think the M5's residuals will suffer in the next 2-3 years.
That being said, my RS6 had lost £40k in under 3 years when I bought it.

There were deals on the pre-facelift/2013 model M5s in dealership stock. The downside is you got the pre facelift/2013 model car. It's an interesting comparison as we've not had customers choosing between the two - the rwd saloon vs. the quattro Avant tends to polarise opinion.

I tried to get hold of one quicker by taking anything that was built any spec or colour or even a cancelled order - I just just got laughed at "special order only"
A New M series car is similar to RS cars (customer order) not many dealers order these cars for stock, you may see a few at launch of a new model for demo.
It's a 12 week wait for M cars if you want a new one which I think is in line with RS and AMG - and it's a killer of a wait, I
must have seen every review and youtube vid there is.

Oh and the brakes in the M5 aren't to clever deffo needs ceramics

This is incorrect:( My LCi is due to arrive in about 5wks. The deals are still available & have been for 3 mths. Also deals available on the E63 along with the S variant. The F10 deals have not changed between the MY13 & MY14 cars, however i doubt they'll last for long. Audi are missing a trick now:(

The best Audi could offer me was an S6 for the same money so no brainer really.

Residuals on all such cars are horrific, that's life.

Ordered mine 2 weeks ago & a chance it will be here early Oct so currently 6-8wk build/delivery:)

Had an extended drive of the new RS6 a few weeks ago & although the C7 RS6 is quicker off the line & up to 100kph than then F10 M5 on paper, the transmission feels a generation back from the M5. The DCT shifts feel so much quicker & more refined, however for whatever reason the C7 still feels marginally quicker.

If Audi had been able to get closer to matching the BMW deal then I'd have likely taken the RS6, however common sense prevailed & although the RS is a touch quicker, the M5 felt considerably more modern & better equipped as standard.

No you don't. You were right...it's S-tronic.

It's a zf 8 and is a tq converter automatic but Audi are calling it S-tronic (same with the S8). Seems to be the new Audi word for all automatic transmissions, be they DSG dual clutch style or the traditional tq converter auto.

Where's a Drybeer when you need one.
