Yeah, that’s what I thought. When I asked about it, they said it was right. I’ll ask again tomorrow to be sure..

No, I just said about the stage 2, downpipes etc, and got a quote back for 2 x HPFPS with fitting as well.

Along with the new spark plugs which I expected.

Im in Kent mate so already a massive journey for me whichever one i went to as such

Hi, I had my RS6 Performance remapped by DMS Automotive of Totton, Southampton, 15 months ago and haven't regretted it for a minute. Six months or so before I went to a nearby Supercar Sunday and had a passenger ride in a McLaren 650S (a donation went to a local hospice). The owner, who happened to come from Kent, had had it remapped by DMS and told me about them; he was very pleased. Shortly after I had them remap my partner's new Mini Cooper S and it jumped from 189 BHP to a fantastic 265 BHP. I was well impressed with the care they took and so not long after I got my new C7 I had them remap that. As they predicted, BMW Mini never new the Cooper S had been touched when it went in for servicing. Audi UK would know changes had been made if they were to connect to the car's OBD Port so either I go to DMS or they come to me beforehand and flash it back to its OEM state and then, after its back from Audi, they reload the remap - so far so good.

Well worth looking at their website and giving Rob (the brains there) a call. They can come out to you, wherever you are in the country (or abroad), but obviously they would need to have the car at their premises if they were to get it onto the dyno. I don't think you would be disappointed, I've not been.

Cheers, Richard

So do you think if your car bust it’s gearbox or engine and it went into Audi having the map removed prior. That Audi couldn’t find traces of that map on the car in their investigations before they approve a £25/30k repair bill?

We all know if faced with a 30k bill for repair they will check for any signs of remaps.

Just search around for ECU code TD1. The Audi scanning tools will have a way of detecting mods, even if returned to stock and will permanently flag the car in the Audi database with code TD1 (meaning the ECU has, at some point, been changed with unauthorised code). Just think of all the data available to the ECU (flow rates, peak RPM etc), Audi will pull this out and if any are out of range, then this can reveal a previous map; let along simple data like the date and time of the last ECU flash and number of times its been flashed.

^this!

Naive in the extreme to believe Audi won’t look and/or won’t detect.

Brave, but true. I was surprised myself, but DMS confirmed to me they had worked on the McLaren and the owner was certainly very pleased with it.

I am not saying there aren't risks: obviously if you use the extra power and torque you are putting more load on many mechanical parts (don't push the power too far and don't do endless launches). It wouldn't surprise me if manufacturers do enough digging they could find evidence for DMS's, MRC's or any one else's remapping for that matter. I have had work done by both over the years and there are no real guarantees. I can report Audi has had my car in several times and nothing has flagged up yet. I am well aware if something major went they may dig deeper and then I may end up paying for the repair and it might cost a lot, but as with most things in life "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime". I do know DMS have satisfied returning customers with BMWs, Porsches, Nissans and even Ferraris (see what's parked outside on the website images).

I think this is exactly the message everyone is trying to get across - be prepared and enter fully aware! Don't go modding if you plan to rely on the warranty if things go pop (which they have!) and aren't prepared to pay, and want to hide what you've been up to in order to make a claim (a.k.a. - Fraud!)

i doubt that's the only time they check............however, this myth that mappers can remove trace of a map is exactly that a myth.

Harrier

You say car had been in and nothing flagged? It won’t unless you try and claim, or it may but service advisor won’t say anything until you try to claim believe me.

Audi spend billions on development....I don’t believe for one minute that ANY tune can not be detected if they dig hard enough.

A very good friend of mine is head of service at a big VW dealer where I live.

He’s has had scores of Golf R through all running tuning boxes, remaps etc etc all with failures that haven’t been paid out due to mapping and tuning boxes. He tells me even the maps theta have been “removed” flag up!!

Don’t shoot the messenger.

Further to my earlier post, I was told that going forwards MRC are suggesting that customers also replace both fuel pumps with a map.

I asked about if it was absolutely necessary, and was told no, but it is a very recent change in their quotation process.

I think I was the 5th customer to be quoted for this so far.
