Don't understand why cylinder deactivation would annoy anyone. The engine still has a nice but understated richness to it. In fact, from time to time l switch off my music to enjoy that mildly sonorous tone during deactivation. Maybe it's just me..
Is your car stock or modified?
As stated, certain quirks/annoyances with the 4-cylinder mode are accentuated with things like exhaust system modifications. My non-resonated Milltek exhaust system sounds glorious, but when the car on occasion drops to stupidly low revs in a high gear and uses 4-cylinder mode for good measure, it both sounds and feels a bit off.
Woman and I are driving the car the same way we drive beast and we drove the Cayenne and even with the 4-cylinder guff in there, we are getting 14.2 mpg average it seems, so it serves no purpose for us at all.
Mine's stock PE. I use it as my daily. At this present moment l intend to keep it that way. It's a PE and already an 'exclusive' car and might appreciate in value on being a 'virgin' alone...
I also understand why others want to modify theirs. However, l do feel spending over £100k on a car then remove or add things only serves to reduce your potential market when you eventually want to sell. Think about this: even some of the factory options are not everyone 's cup of tea. More so with after market mods, surely? Each to their own, l suppose.
Re: cylinder deactivation - l am sure it's more to do with lower emissions with the claim for efficiency a far-fetched one.....we don't buy these muscle cars for their green credentials.
RS6 C7 PE - current
S6 C7 Avant - too hesitant, not enough power
A6 C7, 2.0 TDI......aghhhhh
A3 , 2.0 BE, tdi, yeahhh...
