I don't get it. Why did the Gap have to pay out? If the car is les than a year old shouldn't the insurance company pay out the invoice value? Or am I being naive?

Apparently Mike no they don't. They only pay used car price. It's barmy I know and that's why I lost my head.
I even took it right up to the head of complaints department in the end with the ins.

I hate insurance companies, grrrrr.

Aren't there any insurance companies that actually pay the right value so you don't have to get a 2nd policy to cover the fact you're getting screwed by the 1st company?

Not to mention they dry bum you on prices nowadays. Atleast they should offer Vaseline within their package.

Eddie can I ask how old your car was and what kind of depreciation the insurance were showing. I'm curious as mine was stolen back in July only 3 weeks old with no gap insurance. I was shitting it as I was unsure how much they would settle. Car recovered after a week unscathed and now full after market GAP in place.
