Ordered an RS6 Performance
Re: Ordered an RS6 Performance
Yeah - Mike on the b8 I had it stayed on for a good amount of time, and did indeed steer the car very competently. VERY Strange indeed.
Eventually it does moan, and then it turns it off. I wonder if that setting can be changed in VCDS?

I think it makes three corrections on its own before warning you and turning itself off. I just find the handling at speed a little dangerous if you change lane without indicating while it's on. Whilst you can drive through it, you don't feel in complete control and it can catch you a little unaware as it pushes back. I keep it off most of the time.

Tut tut. Mirror signal manoeuvre!!. Did your driving instructor never teach you this. Lol.mat776 wrote:I think it makes three corrections on its own before warning you and turning itself off. I find that the lane change assist keeps you more awake at night as you have to indicate to change lanes. Works really well

He'll be ok though as long as he keeps 1 hand on the steering wheel. PMSL.MikeFish wrote:For 5 mins it will, then he will be fast asleep!

Re: Ordered an RS6 Performance
Well, 2nd day in so far and done 350. I did try to go see the in laws (anything for miles) but they were out otherwise I'd be over 500 miles now and starting to wind it up a bit more. Really impressed so far, loving the little things like sweeping indicators, power tailgate, MMI animations. The Bose is beginning to sound better. It was dreadful when I first got in the car but after a adjustment and burning in it has improved a lot. The biggest annoyance for me is that I am struggling for the MMI to see all my music files an a hard drive. I've split them into folders so there are no more than 5000 files in any single folder but it still says some folder are empty when they are not.
Not floored it yet so licence still in tact, although I do find myself cruising in triple digits without realising.
For pootling about in sport mode but without wanting to red line it, I find the gearbox is really good. It's impressed me so far. The RS3 in sport mode just want so red line but on the 6 it changes up if are driving but not full throttle whereas with the 3 I have to manually shift up or back off the throttle.
You can tell there is plenty of power there becuase even at low revs with part throttle it is still quite lively; I can't wait to open it up fully.
Oh and a surprise with the tyres; I was expecting some P-zero-grips or some Cuntinentals but got a set of Dunlop Sportmaxx GTs, which are no Michelin or Goodyears but they are better than the other 2 options.
The exhaust is far too quiet. I disconnected the valves today which is a little better but still can barely hear it most of the time. The RS3 sounds better even when just revving it when parked. But, as I said earlier, I haven't heard it in anger yet.
Loads of room inside, it a lovely place to be, the kids and wife love being passengers in it.
I checked under the bonnet for the little clips that Leo pointed out were too close to the coolant hose and mine are as suspected. I keep going to move them but they are always too hot. No damage so far with my gentle acceleration. Must remember to do it tomorrow before I drive it anywhere.
I just tried to put it in my garage but bottle it when I reverse it in up to the front wheel arches as I just couldn't see them. The mirrors literally just made it through with millimetres to spare. It's a bloody big double garage (actually more like 2.5 and extra long) but the doors are far too narrow (the missus won't even put her 3 in there).
I'm sure there's more but I can't think of anything else right now.

Re: Ordered an RS6 Performance
Sounds like you are deep in the new toy stage !
Did you get the Audi Phone Box option ? Any chance of information on how well the Phone/Car stuff is working ?
How is the sound quality on calls from the other persons point of view.
Does the music stream well.

That's very optimistic, but thanks for the compliment!!!MikeFish wrote:For 5 mins it will, then he will be fast asleep!
Glad to hear it's nice Mike, I think I will have difficulty holding back as much as you have done when mine finally shows up!
As for the music, I didn't have that problem - but what I did was:
Join iTunes match
Plug in via usb
Have access to all my music, even if not local.
Of course this aint FLAC tho - glad to hear the Bose is opening up, although making me feel slightly less stupid for spending 6 grand on B&O (only slightly less tho...)
What I'm dying to hear about is when your boost gauge goes red to indicate performance on full gas, and then how the thing picks up.
