Hi Mike,

Did you ever get the badge off? If so, what's the trick?

Thanks,
David

No not yet. But I need to take the grille off at some time so will probably leave it until then.
However, I know what the back of the badge looks like so it should come off but I just can't seem to release it.

Finally took some time in the zero degrees this morning to figure out why this badge wouldn't budge. Finally did and finally got it off. The following pics should explain all...

20190120_102132_1600x1200.jpg
20190120_102206_1600x1200.jpg
20190120_102255_1600x1200.jpg

Basically the badge is clipped into the holding bracket behind the grille. The tabs need to be squeezed together (towards the badge centre) to release. All very well providing some bright spark hasn't also coated them in rock hard glue.

In my case I was able to chip away enough glue on one tab to get it to release but try as might I could get the second one to release hence the damage as I ended up just twisting it out. I wanted it out anyway, so will buy a new one for when (if) I sell the car.

Anyway, hope that helps.
David

Nice one Dave. That looks like mine except I don't have a any glue on mine. I managed to poke my phone down between the grille and radiator to take some photos. It looks like yours but without the glue. But it didn't help me remove it still.

Yes Chris that's right. I have a spare badge from a pre facelift grille and the back is held on with those little metal clips.

Interesting as my car is pre-facelift. No metal clips anywhere. Perhaps they just had different fixings from different suppliers and used them as they were supplied?

Inspired by this fresh talk of badge removal I attacked my badge last night with a big screwdriver. I used it to push the tab back on the left hand side through the honeycomb whilst pulling the badge forward and it popped it. Did similar on the other side and out it came. Even managed to retrieve the back bracket from inside the grille.

The flaps were easy enough when I took it to a garage.
