Interested to know how you price it. They suggest a price near book - did you go with that or pitch it higher? And were the offers significantly over book?BillTheButcher wrote:Following HYFR's recommendation I've currently got my car listed on tootle. I did have a quick look, and got the impression I'd be better off waiting to input my details until nearer the time of the sale.
As I won't be ready to sell until November, I am assuming I should wait as with most of these things the price will reduce over time and certainly each time you get a new quote as they will know I've visited the site before....
Thanks all.
The ad only lasts for five days after which time all offers are automatically declined unless you specifically accept one. You can relist straight away and the whole process begins again.

You don't price. You advertise vehicle and buyers bid.
Re: Best Place to Sell Private
Well, you kind of do - you indicate what you want. Obviously if you're way over the top, you'll get no offers but I'm just keen to understand how the offers are positioned in relation to book.doodlebug wrote:You don't price. You advertise vehicle and buyers bid.

Sorry, see what you mean!
As DK has sold more cars than I've had hot dinners I reckon it's a solid recommendation. I've dealt with Sytner direct, one of the groups using tootle, and it was easy peasy and the price was good.

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
I pitched it a bit higher than book price. I got a few offers slightly over book within minutes of the advert going live. The highest offer so far came in a bit later and it's what I would call significantly over book.Paul789 wrote:Interested to know how you price it. There is of course the usual caveat about them driving the price down when they turn up to collect the car but, from what I've read, they're less likely to do this than other places.

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
Firstly thanks for the tip for Tootle whoever posted it, I have been looking at getting rid of my 6 and kind of new CAP price was around £59k. I am not desperate so put it on Tootle indicating I would like to achieve £65k, have had offers within £500. Just an insight in to how it is working in practice.

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
Yeah, I've put my car up on tootle and one offer so far is 39k which isn't too far off and that's only day 1. I sold my SQ5 to GC Motors who were surprisingly professional and I would always sell this way (to dealers rather than privately). Would rather sell locally though.doodlebug wrote:Sorry, see what you mean!

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
I had a follow-up call from tootle today, presumably because I relisted my car. Not at all pushy; they were just asking what I thought of the service so far.

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
Well, that was unexpected - ended up getting an offer much closer to my bottom line price. I thought they'd be way off and not deviate much from book. I only put 2k down when I bought the car and I'm only under water by 1.5k - that's not a bad outcome.
The RS4 is off next week - a great car, will be missed but I've only put 5k miles on in 10 months. What I really need is a weekend car so will be interesting to see whats out there - 911 GTS, R8, let's see.
Impressed with tootle and equally impressed with the competitive bids from dealers.

I saw that you'd been asking about GTS on PH. A good choice, still strong money mind.
Good to see another vote for tootle.

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
Yeah, the impulsive option would have been to enquire about trade in with Bramley and then you're only a few steps away from it being on the driveway. It is strong money, something beginning with 8 would be better.doodlebug wrote:I saw that you'd been asking about GTS on PH. A good choice, still strong money mind.

I think I'll sit back for a while and consider my options. The GTS looks great as the next move but there aren't any out there which quite hit the mark - a few at 14k - 15k miles over £90k which feels excessive. New shape R8+ is approaching the 100k level too...

Re: Best Place to Sell Private
GTS is going to sit at that money for a good while as gen 2 will be turbo and that has split the market. New shape R8 is a risk used as they aren't a year in yet. Could shed a bundle.
Re: Best Place to Sell Private
You are right, of course. It will drop a lot. I obtained some pretty healthy (comparatively) RV / GFV figures for the R8+ earlier in the year. Will see if I can find them, as it made the car stack up well (on paper).doodlebug wrote:GTS is going to sit at that money for a good while as gen 2 will be turbo and that has split the market. Re: Best Place to Sell Private
The 911 GTS is a great car but i'd find it hard to turn down the Audi given it is a proper supercar; the new one sounds incredible whereas the old R8 V10 was a bit disappointing.
