I found my Golf R crap because it would take a couple of seconds to actually launch! Fine on the 1/4 mile where reaction time is removed, but not good if you wanted to burn off a repmobile at the lights

To a lesser degree, my GT3 does the same. The best car i had was a Gen 2 997 Turbo S which was instant.

2015 Porsche 991 GT3
2015 Porsche 991 Carrera 4 Cab
2012 Porsche Cayenne Diesel
2010 Land Rover Defender 5.0 V8

Your GT3 should be OK, though nothing compares to the TTS, that is utterly brutal. On gen 2, all you do I flick to Sport+, stamp on both pedals, then release the brake. Face ache follows soon after.
Same on the Gen 1. Only used it once, pointless, massive, overkill, opposition gave up, but fun :)

Don't you have to take first stage traction off on gen 1?

In a nutshell, no. It was some time ago so I just watched my cheat video to make sure! Engage "D", press Sport+, foot on brake, foot all the way down on accelerator pedal beyond kickdown, check "Launch Control Activated", engine revs rise, release brake - Go.
