APR = £2k
MRC = £1.5k (?)
REVO = £1.2k
DMS = £?? - I'm sure someone mentioned around £1.2k
Litchfield = £600

I am a big fan of MRC and they're normally competitively priced but £1.5k if that is correct, is a little steep.
Litchfield - Very well priced, big in the GTR world and equally respected.

I'll be taking mine to either Litchfield or MRC.

Don't even consider Revo!! Nasty generic maps.

I think the pricing is because it's a fairly new model and they've all had to spend a lot of time developing their products. Maps for older RS models are a lot cheaper.

Litchfield stage 2 does look tempting, clearly big in the gtr arena but it would be nice to hear from someone who's already taken the plunge. I've reached out yo litchfield 2-3 times via email albeit and never had a response, sure they're busy but need more info on the map etc

That Litchfield price looks very low for a Custom Stage 1 Tune. Undoubted they're at the top of their game on R35's, but have no experience of them doing other marques. If i was tuning a GT-R they'd be my 1st choice however.

DMS IIRC are around £1800 for a Stage 1 Custom Tune. Having had this level of tune on my F10 M5 before moving to Stage 2, i can highly recommend it. I've used DMS on 4 cars in total & would rate them as exceptional when it comes to working on Prestige vehicles.

Do of course bear in mind that Tuners are very much a personal choice, so go with who YOU believe is the best in their respected field & then look at value/distance etc. Warranty is also extremely important when your £70-90k motor is being operated on.

I did get a response from Iain at Litchfield and the price is £600 for the Stage 1. Although on the website they quote 650hp, he told me that it's around 700hp and the website needs updating. With the catback, 730hp is available.

Downside does appear that all his time goes into GTR work, I've seen very little on their Facebook page of them developing their very own development RS6, they just churn out GTR after GTR after GTR. If they want to break into the VAG market, they really need to start putting more time and investment into it.

In addition to Litchfield, MSL have recently developed an RS6 with some great figures. MSL for those unaware are top Merc AMG tuners.

Get what your both saying i'll give them a call its just taking the day off thats the killer for me at Awesome they'll collect and drop off no problem while I'm at work. Did contact AWE about a carbon intake, they've told me there s-flo intake for the RS7 will fit the RS6. What do you think? I thought it'd be totally different but like i said I'm clueless with this stuff!

To be clear for all your guys. If you tune the car, even in boot mode (Opening the ECU and flashing in directly) the MED17 ecu will be spotted by Audi Germany. Same with OBD flashing which is available on these.

They will flag it as TD1 warranty code when they do the SWM check.

Yup, they all claim to be "undetectable"...which really annoys me as i bet none off them have driven a car they have tuned into Audi and asked them to check...ECU tuning is a warranty killer on any new car these days... although we had our RRS done by the land rover dealer which is confusing...

Well if I was reticent before, I'm decided now. It would be just my luck to need something looked at and lose a warranty claim. It's a real shame, I'd suspect the likes of MRC have never caused an issue with their work? They probably end up knowing more about Audi's than Audi do.

Why the germans don't just white label a product from a top tuner, whack a stupid price on it and cover the car. We'd still all pay it, I'm sure.

Note the keyword being Audi Germany. Your dealer & Audi UK have no hardware to detect a decent remap & TBH, you'd have to have a shitty relationship with your dealer for them to remove the ECU's & ship them to Germany just to get one over on you.

If (& believe me it's a monumental if) this did ever happen, assuming you've used a reputable tuner, you'd be covered by their warranty so all this warranty scaremongering is pointless as in the worst case you'd be covered by the tuners warranty & the best case by your Audi/dealer warranty :jump_clap:

After talking at some length with a long established tuner about the warranty problem:
The guy was pretty certain that Audi/BMW/Porsche etc.. can find out whether a car has been tuned even if it has been flashed back without shipping the ECUs off to HQ. - They can .. allegedly... checksum the ECU via ODB and detect the tune. If it has been flashed back to normal the logs will be incorrect and whilst they may not be able to tell what tune has been put on they will probably know something has been done.

There are cases of people saying that they have flashed back but have still had their warranties voided.

http://oppositelock.kinja.com/help-audi ... 1467844528

Conversely I have had more than one dealer telling me to just go ahead and tune the car I've just bought because "everyone" does it . This forum at least isn't full of people saying their warranty has been voided by Audi and there must be a pretty size-able number here who have tuned their cars!

As W8PMC says - a lot of tuners warranty the tune. If this is insurance backed then you are probably ok..

Personally... I generally avoid tuning my cars, just not worth it imo..
