Been a few "cylinder" related failures now?

Makes me wonder if cylinder deactivation could play a part?

I'm only going on what Audi have told me. The codes showed starter motor this was removed and tested and was U/S. The next problem is removing the engine as it's totally seized and from what I'm told not easy to remove from gear box in this condition.
I have to say this has really made me stop and think. I've always mapped all my cars and always laughed off any potential issues, however this is potentially a massive amount of money and may well be the end for me in terms of playing with cars😫😫😫
The issue with the engine being seized means you can't get to all the verter/fluid coupling bolts. That means you need an extra 40cm of movement at the frontof the car. That's means rad/coolers will have to be removed.

Bad day cont'd....- lemans 24hr. Rouen -lemans toll, stopped by police for speeding. €90 fine, bloke in porsche in front €500 fine. Six month ban!!!
Arrived in lemans. Friday evening, so know i was going to have run the gauntlet of the mongrels that congregate for 'mad friday'. Anyhow some young chap in a large group decides to jump on the bonnet of the car as i wasnt going to stop for them and his pesky water pistol no doubt filled with beer n piss!. But he jumped on it hard and i could see he caused a dent, so i floored it a little 😜 thinking then a stiff prod with the brake pedal would dislodge the little scrote (normally quite a placid fellow !) What i didnt see though, was his numpty pal who was also stood in front of the car..... so suddenly 2 people on the bonnet one smashed his face on the bonnet then windscreen and then both flung on the floor in front of the car ! Queue the bleeding hearts mob telling me im 'gonna get it cos we filmed it all' and one tried to punch me through the open window😡. Drove into campsite where security pulled me and told me to sit tight for the gendarmes. They had already been made aware of the 'incident' as the ambulance was now taking mr no teeth to the hospital. They viewed the videos and decided No fault of mine and fair play to me cos they all wankers doing it. One of the gendarmestold me had a new A7 and he was more interested in the rs6 than anything else. So 1 speeding fine a properly dented bonnet and drivers door where some clown kicked it. Car covered in blood along with my fave shirt. Bad day? If the rs6 goes into limp home mode tommorow on way back im done for....

Lemans with no audi is just not the same. 9th year here and this race needs audi !
Other than that bloody good trip. Bit hot though, burnt me eyelids I think😫
Looks like your incident has gone viral - video on Facebook assuming you have a very black 6

Ok so having only had my new PE for four weeks, and it covering only 500 miles, a 10" x 4" circular steel missile, from the opposite side of the M1 motorway, decides to appear at breakneck speed from the central reservation and into the front of the car. It smashes through the front splitter and bumper, hits the bottom of the radiator and then goes under the car and bangs a huge hole in what I expect to be the sump. Oil sensor light appears, as does loads of fragments in my rear mirror, and I just manage to pull over safely into the hard shoulder. Not amused when I step out and see the damage and road covered with oil...
Quote from dealer to repair damage came back at 12k - Apparently the missile has cause significant damage to the front bumper, front grill and splitter, air con rad, both coolant and aux coolant rads, oil sump, steering rack, rear gear box cross member, inside passenger wheel and tyre, and various sensors and engine/gearbox under trays.

Emailed estimate to Insurer who just told me its a total loss. Clearly confused, I asked how they came about their decision, they then back tracked and apologised for being incorrect... Easy mistake to make I guess... not !

Be interesting to see how the NFU deal with the claim overall...

£12k, ouch. I bet Audi are going to the extreme, but I'd prefer that on a car like this. Hope it gets sorted for you quickly and they do a good job on the paint match. Real bad luck.
