No, it's not. I'm surprised you spotted it considering you're so busy talking about getting a remap.

Bam bam is right, it's why I waited till the end of my warranty before modifying in any way. Essentially it is as follows

1) you purchase a new car and are provided with a warranty on the car in the state it left the factory
2) you take it to rons autos who sprinkle it with fairy dust and increase the horses and torques
3) your new vehicle develops a problem
4) you take vehicle in expecting someone else to pay to repair it and haven't told them about Ron and his fairy dust
5) you are committing Fraud
6) you would not be committing fraud if you came clean
7) you would not have told them as I imagine you were expecting a " on your bike son" from the warranty company and didn't want to stick your hands in your pockets yourself
8) it isn't that complicated to understand why not disclosing pertinent informationis fraudulent in this context. All in my humble opinion of course

You are wasting your time mate. Those people who are already so knee deep in modding without the means to rectify the fault themselves wont listen.

Im going to try a new tact, become a forum sponsor and sell magic beans. Id make a killing on this site.

Lol .. I am genuinely interested into why you think getting BMW to pay to replace a gearbox that has gone Pop following a remap , not telling them about the remap knowing they would say no if you did disclose what you have had done and then passively allowing them to cough up is not fraudulent. :bigwave:

wow this thread is headache inducing.

I think I'll just enjoy the car as it is then when out of warranty chuck a lump of cash at it and take it to MRC. The power gains will satisfy any urge to move on to anything new.

Or keep it standard and look at something like a Cayman GT4 to blast around in. less power, lighter manual gear box = hours of fun. :biggrin3:

Where (assuming the above is directed at me) did i say any of that? If not directed at me then the blow is purely a reiteration of what's already been posted.

I simply said that the tune (doesn't of course apply to all tunes) was NOT detectable at BMW dealer or even UK Mfctr level. I still believe this to be correct as have seen nothing to indicate otherwise, however a few hearsay examples relative to Audi have been presented so perhaps the landscape is changing. I also said good luck to any dealer or Mfctr that tried to place a blanket warranty exclusion on a tuned car, thus excluding claims on unrelated failures.

The fraud discussion turned out to be relative to extended warranties not original warranties & therefore not really relevant.

Lastly if mine or anyone with a quality tuners product suffered a mechanical failure as a result of said tune, then the supplier of said tune would cover this under their insurance backed warranty. So if my gearbox does go pop which having been Custom tuned professionally i highly doubt will, i can't say i'm really that worried.

You didn't. You have never claimed you would attempt to hide the tune and have said several times that you are covered by the tuner's warranty.

We have been discussing the manufacturers ORIGINAL warranty (mainly) and to what degree the warranty is void if you tune the car. This turns out to be quite complex given the warranty information from the likes of Audi and BMW.

There was confusion in the thread by some thinking that we were talking about extended warranties - they are different and have different rules.

I have personally stated that I do not believe any fraud is committed by putting a tune on. I have also said that it is not fraud to take the car into Audi/BMW for warranty work whether the ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER'S warranty work even if it may be connected to the tune providing that there is no attempt on the owners part to hide the tune. However the one caveat being that if the owner suspects the tune might have caused the problem the owner should state that there is a tune on the car. In other words I do not think it's necessary to announce you have a tune if you are going in for the radio packing in.

I *think* Bam Bam has an opposing view to the statement above.

There has been some talk of Audi voiding the entire manufacturer's warranty because they have discovered a tune.

I admit it is dragging on a bit, but it is pretty relevant actually. It's done one thing fior sure - it's convinced me not to get a remap for three years...
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Thank you so very much for your amazingly insightful input, now, how about you unsubscribe to this thread you whinging little bitch! Go and sulk over to one of the umpteen 'positive' remap threads on this forum.
Yes, this is a car forum, a very diverse one, and this is an example of its diversity.

So that's your response? Tell me, what's it like being so ineffectual? Has a woman ever been with you for any other reason than your bank account? Do you wear super hero costumes to bed?

Go away.
